Supporters of the Confederate flag were seen waving the flag outside of the school this afternoon where President Barack Obama is scheduled to give his remarks on health care later in the day.
The demonstrators were gathered across the street from Taylor Stratton Elementary School in Madison.
They said they hope the president will come outside and speak to them so he will understand what they’re all about.
“We just want him to understand that this is heritage, that there is not any bit of hate coming from these flags. We can’t be held accountable for one man making that mistake and shooting up that church,” said one of the demonstrators.
The Confederate flag has been a big issue in recent weeks in the aftermath of the church shooting that killed nine people in Charleston, S.C. Since then, several states have taken down the flag from government property and many companies have vowed to stop selling products featuring the flag.

So what is their point? We all (well many of us) disagree with the Obama agenda in general. But why invoke the Confederate flag? What is their point other than to come across as racist a**holes?

I would prefer they meet him with pitch forks, torches, tar & feathers and re educate his stupidity. Regardless of the Confederate Battle Flag, which I had no idea was even an issue of any kind. I am not sure I ever saw it fly from a flag pole. Possibly when my brother first moved to Columbus and he rented a row house across from the Confederate grave yard that is located on the site of Camp Chase the Confederate Civil War Prison camp.
This is all nonsense. The flag flies over Confederate Civil War monuments. If they took down the flags are they next to erase the Civil War from the History Books. I know the Party of Slavery the Democrats would like to do that
