Wisconsin GOP ‘welcomes’ Bernie Sanders with billboards

MADISON, Wis. – The Republican Party of Wisconsin is offering a big welcome to ultra-liberal presidential candidate Bernie Sanders for his Badger State sojourn.

The socialist Vermont U.S. senator who is making presumptive Democrat presidential candidate Hillary Clinton increasingly nervous takes his wealth redistribution to Madison Wednesday evening. Some 10,000 people are expected to be in attendance, according to published reports.

RPW has placed billboards around the state “welcoming” Sanders, and the party has launched a microsite highlighting the “extreme” positions that Sanders – and now Hillary Clinton – have embraced.

Superimposing Sanders’ and Clinton’s heads on the bodies of famed idiots Lloyd Christmas and Harry Dunne from the comedy “Dumb and Dumber,” the billboard makes quite an impression.

Bernie steers the moped with Hillary riding behind (borrowing from one of the funniest scenes in the movie), with the billboard declaring: Hillary Clinton (and) Bernie Sanders: Left and Lefter. Yesterday’s Candidates –Extreme Policies

As the GOP notes, recent polls show Sanders closing the gap on Democratic Party frontrunner Clinton, prompting the former first lady, New York senator and secretary of state to “adopt extreme positions to connect with her Party’s base.”

Sanders has pitched a 90 percent tax rate on some Americans. Will Clinton go there, too?

“Bernie Sanders’s recent surge reflects Hillary Clinton’s inability to resonate with her base — and she’s desperately shifting to the left to win the nomination,” said Joe Fadness, RPW executive director. “Voters should be disturbed by the ease in which Clinton will sacrifice her values to appease hardline Democrats.”

At a press conference Tuesday, Sanders said he plans to draw on Wisconsin’s progressive roots, and believes that liberal spirit is spreading throughout America.

The Dem candidate’s Badger State visit comes as Wisconsin Republican Gov. Scott Walker prepares to launch a formal campaign for president.

Sanders will undoubtedly blast Walker’s conservative agenda in one of the more liberal cities in the nation.

I’d much rather have a true ideologue as prez than a deceiving, hateful, arrogant sucker of big money while pleading poverty and good intentions...

I think we should set up a “go fund me” page for Bernie so that he can buy a comb.

I agree. Besides that, Sanders just might be more in tune with states' rights than is Clinton or many of the 'pubs. The elite are clueless about the appeal of Sanders.

90% tax rate, fine. Start with Congress and tax wealth, not income. Or count political contributions as income.

Lenin was a "true" ideologue. So was Hitler. Be careful what you wish for. While Hillary is just another power/money-seeking lib, Sanders would like to throw you in prison for your beliefs. Or worse.

They're both dangerous, but as history has shown committed leftists like Sanders are far more likely to shoot you or throw you in the gulag than simple incompetent, power seekers like Hillary.

I’d be a little careful. The Democratic nominee, whoever they are, is going to have a built in electoral advantage. I think Sanders can easily win. Still remember in 2008 a lot of people didn’t think we would elect Obama, especially during the Primaries. How wrong they were.

That being said, not sure who would be worse: Clinton or Sanders.

They can make fun all they want, but the GOP has shown by their actions that their agenda is not that much different.

Let me just say that the last thing I’d want is a “socialist” as POTUS. However, unlike Clinton, Sanders actually ran something successfully: the city of Burlington. Have been to Burlington quite a few times, it’s really a great little city. I also think Sanders genuinely cares more about ordinary people than Queen Hillary.

I think many Dems will privately acknowledge that Hillary does not have a great track record. However, they think Bill is around to “prop her up”. That may be so, but as POTUS, she would be under NO obligation to take his advice. And, given their history, she might want to rub his face in it more than a little.

Bernie will be harder to beat than cankles. If it’s jebba vs bernie, then the socialist (bernie I mean) will win in a landslide. It will take a Cruz to illuminate and expose the fallacy of socialism in the debates.

Since the media won’t spread anything good about conservatism, I believe billboards are the way to go. LED billboards are reasonably inexpensive to by ad time. Run them during morning and afternoon drive across the nation. Get the message down to 6-10 words bites.

I agree on the GOP dismissing the appeal for Sanders. He should not be underestimated. Nationalism, in various forms, is attractive. Sanders has that to some degree, ie America first type scenarios. Sanders wants to spend money on American work projects, fund health care, reign in financial institutions and such other projects. The GOP had better start paying attention.
