Catholic schools need an HR person with gaydar skills. Seems like they’re always getting into trouble with gay employees. Opt to hire applicants who are married to the opposite sex with three kids, a big hound dog and who’s hobbies include fishing, hunting and watching football.

I get the part about being married to a wife, but not about being married to the hound dog (just kidding just kidding).

It is actually more basic than that.

There are three paragraphs in the Catechism that deal with the subject of homosexuality. Most people in the Church are so poorly catechized (and never hear to the contrary) that they only think about one of the three:

2358 The number of men and women who have deep-seated homosexual tendencies is not negligible. This inclination, which is objectively disordered, constitutes for most of them a trial. They must be accepted with respect, compassion, and sensitivity. Every sign of unjust discrimination in their regard should be avoided. These persons are called to fulfill God's will in their lives and, if they are Christians, to unite to the sacrifice of the Lord's Cross the difficulties they may encounter from their condition.

The two that they don't consider surround that paragraph:

2357 Homosexuality refers to relations between men or between women who experience an exclusive or predominant sexual attraction toward persons of the same sex. It has taken a great variety of forms through the centuries and in different cultures. Its psychological genesis remains largely unexplained. Basing itself on Sacred Scripture, which presents homosexual acts as acts of grave depravity,140 tradition has always declared that "homosexual acts are intrinsically disordered."141 They are contrary to the natural law. They close the sexual act to the gift of life. They do not proceed from a genuine affective and sexual complementarity. Under no circumstances can they be approved.

(see above for 2358)

2359 Homosexual persons are called to chastity. By the virtues of self-mastery that teach them inner freedom, at times by the support of disinterested friendship, by prayer and sacramental grace, they can and should gradually and resolutely approach Christian perfection.

Because of this neglect, they are constantly concerned with not "unjustly discriminating". And even then, they don't read the whole thing, judging any form of discrimination as being "unjust."

Because of that, the CDF issued a document back in 1992 that clarifies this situation:

10. “Sexual orientation” does not constitute a quality comparable to race, ethnic background, etc. in respect to non-discrimination. Unlike these, homosexual orientation is an objective disorder (cf. Letter, no. 3) and evokes moral concern.

11. There are areas in which it is not unjust discrimination to take sexual orientation into account, for example, in the placement of children for adoption or foster care, in employment of teachers or athletic coaches, and in military recruitment.

Obviously then, there is nothing wrong with not hiring a sodomite for these teaching positions. Sadly, the majority of Catholics don't bother studying their own faith enough to get beyond a partial reading of CCC 2358 to understand this. And if I try to correct them...well, I'm labeled a "hater."

Go figure.
