2016 DEBATE WATCH: Donald Trump Slides To Seventh Place
Townhall.com ^ | July 3, 2015 | Daniel Doherty

Posted on 07/03/2015 10:02:16 AM PDT by Kaslin

Editor’s note: "2016 Debate Watch" is a running, bi-weekly series.

This week we’ve seen Jeb Bush and Donald Trump gain some momentum. Carly Fiorina, meanwhile, recently turned some heads as well, cracking the top ten for the first time ever.

If the August 6 Fox News debate were held tonight, however, only the following candidates would make the (prime-time) cut. (See the debate rules here):

(1) Jeb Bush: 15.0

(2) Scott Walker: 10.6

(3) Marco Rubio: 9.4

(4) Ben Carson: 9.4

(5) Mike Huckabee: 8.0

(6) Rand Paul: 8.0

(7) Donald Trump: 6.0

(8) Ted Cruz: 4.8

(9) Chris Christie: 3.8

(10) Rick Perry: 3.4

Editor’s note: The five polls used to calculate these averages can be found here, here, here, here, and here.

If Cruz makes it to the debates he will devastate the rest of the field.

Phooey.

I was hoping Carly would get a hearing. I think we will get a second tier debate for the others, and doing so may move the needle for one to advance. (Although I would like to replace Huchabbeeeeee with Carly. Just cuz.)

This is no contest without Carly hammering Hillary like the boys can not.

He’s only got 15 months left to pull it out.

I believe FOX is now a strictly “Establishment” operation.

So they went out looking for people with Hispanic surnames to respond, huh?

Although I have no plan to vote for her. She deserves to get a hearing

The GOP has nothing to do with this. If you noticed all the polls are by the media

Half of those polls are a half-month old now.

Meaningless.

I do not think the populace at large is going to vote for Jeb Bush in big numbers.

I don’t think U. S. Citizens favor allowing illegal immigrants to run the place. Jeb does.

It’s that simple.

If the Republican party wants to go down in flames, then work it so Jeb gets the nomination.

If Hillary isn’t in prison by then, she’ll destroy him. If she is, Bernie Sanders will destroy him.

He’ll campaign just like the other Bushes. Think 1992, 2000, and 2004. The Bushes don’t have a clue about running an aggressive hard hitting campaign against extreme Leftists.

They can hardly win against the worst political figures in our nation’s history. Clinton, Gore, Kerry, losing or barely eking out a win by the skin of their teeth. Is that the GOPe’s goal? I think it is.

“This is no contest without Carly hammering Hillary like the boys can not.”

I agree! Carly is a very important candidate! Huck and Perry should go for starters. They are both failed candidates from 2012. Perry should retire and Huck should go play his Bass somewhere for money.

I know just joking. Because the Donald is mainly a loud mouth and less sophisticated version of Cruz I suspect once the novelty wears off he’ll be polling in same range as Cruz.

Polls, polls, polls. I’m so sick of polls. I will not live a poll driven life.

I would like to see Carly and Jindal both, a part of the debates, to put their faces and voices in front of the public.

More meaningless polls.

We will see what it looks like in December and then after Iowa and New Hampshire.

With a large field it is highly likely that it will be a long primary, as it should be. Maybe even a convention fight. I also believe that the caucus state of Iowa will be a massive rebuke of Bush, possibly unrecoverable if he doesn’t clearly win the in New Hampshire or South Carolina. I mean clearly by double digits.

I can appreciate that.

I think we can probably agree that, at best, Carly is vying for joining a ticket. But, yes, she has one target in mind— H I L L A R Y. Politically, she is not anywhere near conservative enough for me on social issues.

Yeah, I think that is fishy too. These are some kind of odd polls, of rubes and boobs.
