Donald Trump doubled down on his controversial comments about illegal immigration from Mexico on Monday, saying that "infectious disease is pouring across the border."
Trump issued a lengthy — nearly 900 word — statement invoking the death of a San Francisco woman shot and killed last week by a suspect who had previously been deported to Mexico five times.
"This is merely one of thousands of similar incidents throughout the United States," Trump said Monday. "In other words, the worst elements in Mexico are being pushed into the United States by the Mexican government."
The 2016 Republican presidential candidate said that Mexican drug cartels are using immigrants to smuggle heroin, cocaine and other illicit drugs into the United States.
"The Border Patrol knows this. Likewise, tremendous infectious disease is pouring across the border," Trump continued.

I complained to a handler, contacted Southwest, registered my complaint to a pilot and posted it on Free Republic.
A fellow Freeper called Baltimore media. Local FOX affiliate was there when we landed. One of the handlers asked me if I was satisfied. Nope, you’re still here was my response.
The next day, Tom Marr, a local talk radio host was discussing it. I called in and ID’s myself as the guy who got the whole thing started.

Practically speaking, there was no chance of immigration reform before Trump started talking about. We’ve tried your approach for 30 years. Give lip service to an idea but don’t fight hard enough to actually win.
Oh disagree with those two. It was the "presentation" that got the ball rolling, which caused an overreaction by the Libs and RINOs that overwhelming helped. What happen is those fools thought they could fool people when they mischaracterized what Trump said.
And Trump understands business advertising (applicable running for President) much better than those clowns. Although it is much easier to do an advertising campaign when you got a killer product to sell, or in the world of Puters, Trump has got a killer app. It's been several decades that the consumers (constituents) have badly wanted this.
There is no Immigration problem UNLESS you agree with me that the U.S. Should restrict legal Immigration even more than it does now.
The U.S. Has an Illegal Alien problem -Illegal Alien reform is what's needed. The problem is one of a lack of comprehensive ENFORCEMENT of already existing laws. Instead the open borders Leftists are intent on promoting a comprehensive subversion of immigration law.
