They say they came to the U.S. illegally. Now they’re working on Trump’s D.C. hotel.

For weeks, dozens of construction workers from Latin America have streamed onto the site of the Old Post Office Pavilion in downtown Washington and taken pride in their work building one of the city’s newest luxury hotels.

But that job site is now laden with tension after the man behind the project — billionaire developer Donald Trump — put himself at the center of the nation’s debate over illegal immigration.

Trump garnered headlines — and prompted several business associates to sever relations with him — when he launched his bid for the Republican presidential nomination last month with a controversial description of drug dealers and “rapists” crossing the border each day into the United States from Mexico.

But a Trump company may be relying on some undocumented workers to finish the $200 million hotel, which will sit five blocks from the White House on Pennsylvania Avenue, according to several who work there. A Trump spokeswoman said the company and its contractors follow all applicable laws. But in light of Trump’s comments, some of the workers at the site said they are now worried about their jobs — while others simply expressed disgust over the opinions of the man ultimately responsible for the creation of those jobs.

I'm Shocked!
If they found a job site without illegals that would be impressive.

I have NO idea. Sorry.

She’s the cute one. (like that’s going to narrow the field a great deal, on Fox)

But maybe. I’m sure she’ll be on again, no problem.

Why should he run his business not in his best interest?

You mean why shouldn't he be a hypocrite? Let's have him get on stage and tell everyone its in his best interest to not pay American workers so he can add more millions to his billions. Should go over like a fart in church...

I don't personally care if he outsources the manufacture of his clothes overseas so he can avoid paying the level of wage that would attract an American worker and thereby pad his profits. I will point out his hypocrisy in doing so while pretending to give a crap about American workers.

That is stupid, especially since so many other corporations are doing it! How can he be competitive?

So you don't care enough about American workers to pay more for 'American made' products and still ensure that The Donald makes a satisfactory profit? Guess you're part of the 'problem' too...

Trump is the only person out there, saying America needs to return jobs to America.

Saying it.

Saying it.

Saying it.

But what is he DOING? Hiring foreigners so he can make more profit.

But keep listening to what he says, because that's what matters right? That's what puts food on the table...

“A guy who works for a guy who works for a guy who works for a guy who works for a guy who works for Trump may have hired illegal immigrants.”

Exactly!

Donald Trump didn’t hire any of these workers

Furthermore - did they lie on their application and perhaps submit a fake SS card number? If so how is this Trump’s fault or his company’s fault?

Look.

At the moment, every politician in both political parties, seems to be sold-out about ever more former American jobs, going to foreign countries.

Every single one.

Sure be demanding about Trump, but be demanding about every candidate, because they’re all out to lunch, in my view.

In both parties. Every single person.

Trump seems to be the best, thus far.

You fail economics 101, I am not going to take the time to educate you. There is something call “the China Price” match it or go out of business. Trump wants to level the playing field but until the field is level “the China Price” rules.

If they’re illegal they shouldn’t be here as far as I’m concerned...even if they’re washing windows.

So Windex is toxic? Or is it that an employer who would use illegal workers doesn’t mind using bad chemicals?

Rove talked about “tone” to get the Hispanic vote like Perry and Jebber. Says Trump still a side show.
