Exactly. I'm pretty sure every firework bigger than a bottle rocket I've ever lit-off has had a label on it that said something to the effect of "Place on level ground away from flammable material..." Obviously he didn't follow the instructions already on the device. Does she (or those like her, of the same ilk) really think maybe just one more label, one more warning would have prevented idiocy?
It is the exact same mindset as people who think one more "gun control" law will prevent gun crime. No, people. All you lib lurkers out there, just no. Someone willing to break a dozen or more laws including committing murder isn't going to be dissuaded from his/her crimes by one more law, or even a dozen more laws.
Same thing here with stupidity. It doesn't matter how many dire warnings or intelligence-insulting labels you put on a device (fireworks, ladders, tools, etc.) there are going to be people that mis-use them and get hurt, even killed. It is going to happen. It is going to be sad, and yes even a little funny to some. Sorry, that's just the way it is. You can't make life as safe as being wrapped up in a huge Twinkie - which by the way are a choking hazard, may lead to diabetes and obesity if eaten to excess... See, *nothing* is safe people!

You can't outlaw stupidity, but let's pass another law anyway. And this is how we get stupid laws (about 90% of all laws IMO. Like requiring helmets for ice skaters, and requiring defibrillators and trained operators at Little League baseball games.) And these laws will never go away unless they are replaced by even dumber laws.
Take away the fireworks, and this person would have found another stupid way to get drunk and kill himself.
