It wasn’t on the State House. It was in a little diorama park in front. Big f’n deal. You can’t steal our heritage- because it is your heritage and history too. Maybe we can get back on point on something really important, like eliminating crystal methamphetamine, and 9th grade dropouts who think they are “cool” killing Christians.
This is SC, pretty proud lf its contribution in the war of northern aggression and I expect there will be political payback.

With all of the liberals moving here and bringing their politics with them, and with the republican’s help, South Carolina will be solid democrat in a few years.
Yeah, I don’t think this issue is going to set well with the voters of SC.
We will see in the next election how many of these legislators are still in office.
I do think this was one of the correct procedures for doing this, though...let the people, by their representatives, decide.
Another way: a direct vote of the people.
My guess is there was pressure, tremendous pressure, by so-called Civil Rights groups and Big Business to do something. This was done behind closed doors, not out in the open.
Nikki Haley avoided a Mike Pence situation—think Indiana’s Religious Freedom Law.
I don’t think Pence did the courageous thing by FOLDING like a cheap tent—don’t get me wrong.
Just trying to figure out how this happened in such a rapid fire manner.
No one is talking about how the murdered reverend voted on the flag (he voted to put it near the monument where it currently flies, IIRC)....no one is talking to black citizens who think the Stars and Bars are a symbol of heritage, not hate (they do exist)...and no one in the MEDIA is asking “Where will it stop?”
Pretty sad in that respect.

Gov. Nikki Haley is on the warpath to destroy our history. Her action reveals she is in sympathy with the far left. I would take Ted Turner over her. And she is sending a sick message. Her kind of politicians pose a real danger to this country.
Nikki is such a disappointment.

Finally the Confederate flag has become a hateful rag. People are happy, racism has been defeated. Oh happy day. Isn’t that a wonderful way to end both black and white racism just ban the flag. (sarc)

As I posted on another thread, I had to run down to the Kroger store in Appomattox today. I was in the CVS, and I noticed their display of Civil War merchandise was gone. They kept a few shelves of mugs, tees, paperweights, etc.
The woman behind the counter said they received a call from corporate to remove it because it showed the Confederate flag.
The store is next door to a historical park, and those items were souvenirs.
The Confederate flag is going UP in some other places... What an insult to our heritage.

She has lost my vote, but she has turned the Confedreate Flag into a new symbol of protest. When the Confederate Flag comes down from the CONFEDERATE MEMORIAL tomorrow, my new one goes up on my flagpole. It hasn’t a thing to do with slavery, it has everything to do with freedom lost. And the attempt by liberals to rewrite history. We should all be flying this flag in protest of our dwindling freedoms...from being told what to eat, so to marry, etc. and what flag is or is not politically correct. This historical flag will now rise again as a protest against the nanny state. I will fly my new flag proudly.
Finally, If only we had taken down this flag 150 years ago there would be no violence in the streets. Now the crips and bloods will walk hand and hand as they sweep up the garbage, cut down the weeds, and remove all the graffiti in their ghettos, I will now visit Chicago and Detroit on the summer weekends for a fun filled weekend of unicorns and rainbows.
