Joint Chiefs nominee: Russia greatest threat to U.S.
CNN ^ | July 10, 2015 | By Jamie Crawford

Washington (CNN)Russia currently poses the greatest global threat to the United States, according to the man slated to be President Barack Obama's top military adviser.

"Russia presents the greatest threat to our national security," Gen. Joseph Dunford told the Senate Armed Services committee during his confirmation hearing to be the next Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.

With its large nuclear arsenal, destabilizing role in Ukraine and threat to NATO nations on its borders, Russia presents a significant challenge to the U.S., even as it faces threats like that of ISIS.

"If you want to talk about a nation that could pose an existential threat to the United States, I would have to point to Russia," Dunford said. "And if you look at their behavior, it's nothing short of alarming," Dunford told committee Chairman John McCain, an Arizona Republican, that it would be "reasonable" for the United States to provide sophisticated anti-tank and artillery assistance to the Ukrainian government in response to the situation in eastern Ukraine. . .

Obama nominated this guy? After smacking around Mitt Romney for saying the very same thing in a debate?

Wrong. The Academia Left and the PC Police in our own country are the biggest threat.

The current WH is the greatest threat.

Hey Obama, the 21st Century called, and they want their foreign policy back.

Yep; Putin is just screwing with 0bama because he can, and because he despises the little ‘nancy boy’. Even a moderate in the White House would cause Putin to quit thumbing his nose at us.

The current WH is the greatest threat.

If only some nominee would get in front of a Senate committee and say that. It *is* the truth.

The Joint Chiefs. Well they are certainly well named. I picture a pow-wow in an ornate office with all of them smoking a pipe with “something” in it and coming to this conclusion. A bunch of stoner chiefs. We are in deep trouble folks. Deep.

"Russia presents the greatest threat to our national security," Gen. Joseph Dunford told the Senate Armed Services committee during his confirmation hearing to be the next Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.

I'm sure he did, same as he pandered to anti-American B. Hussein Obama to get the nomination in the first place.

If nations were persons: China is pragmatic and dull, Russia is a delirious violent maniac. Who is more dangerous?

Recall this Photoshop image is what Putin's shill and former Olympic champion, Irina Rodrina, posted on social media at his behest to show what Putin & his comrades think of the WH occupant:

China, hands down. All of Europe can rally against Russia - just who rallies against China? Japan? Philippians? Indonesia? Australia? All of southeast Asia could rise up against them, and China wouldn't even have to break into the mothball reserves.

Never underestimate a massive brainwashed population who are conditioned to follow the dictates of their leadership. Russians have learned to enjoy their freedoms. Chinese know this is just the warmth between winters.

If nations were people:

Russia would be a drunk(ish) old(ish) man holding an old .45 revolver that has signs of rust, but loaded with fresh-off-the-factory bonded Winchester bullets. He's waving it around, acting very belligerent, finger on the trigger and sweeping you with the barrel. He keeps threatening to kill you, and he just kicked your dog. His breath is atrocious.

China would be a short man with a dour face but a broad smile and an interestingly overwhelming need to shake your hand (and shake it vigorously). He is dressed very sharply in a bespoke suit, but is wearing old sandals and his hands are weirdly calloused. He is not waving a gun, but by his feet you see two heaps. One heap has your wallet, your credit cards, your daughter's phone number and details, a copy of your house and car keys, and a scratched out note on what he thinks your wife's favorite shampoo is. The second heap is even more disturbing ...it has receipts for all types of weapons, ranging from the same old revolver the 'other guy' had, but also newer better weapons that are, to your growing trepidation, primarily intended to take YOU out. The bullets have steel cores meant to penetrate the bullet-resistant vest you're wearing, there's a suppressor, and ...interestingly ...you realize he is walking you to an area that has clear plastic wrapping laid out on the floor.

That's the difference between Russia and China.

Russia is a belligerent bully that smacks it's neighbors about and finances the likes of Damascus and Tehran. They are not a 'friend,' and they can do a lot of harm.

However, China is richer (while Russia has an economy equivalent to Italy's, China has the number 2 economy in the world), more strategic, it is bullying it's neighbors (ranging from Vietnam going all the way to Japan), and has had the largest military buildup in recent history (with most of if targeted at the United States).

Yes, Russia is a threat. China just happens to be a bigger one. Maybe even a whole level of magnitude higher.

(In many ways similar to how everyone knows Iran is a threat, but somehow overlook Pakistan ...which is an even bigger threat, has nuclear weapons, supported the Taliban, supports various Jihadi outfits through the ISI, and has a significantly higher anti-American sentiment than even Iran).

Very poetic, bravo. I still maintain that an armed maniac is a more imminent danger than callused weirdo you described.
