NARRAGANSETT, R.I. (WPRI) -Police and firefighters have responded to Salty Brine Beach for a report of an explosion.
The Department of Environmental Management confirms that they received reports of an explosion on the beach and a person injured at about 11:15 Saturday morning.

Back in the '80's in coastal Oregon, a dead whale was dispatched with explosives....
It didn't go well, whale parts rained down from hundreds of feet away...

According to Sgt. Thomas Silvia, of DEM (Department Environmental Management) environmental enforcement, investigators are looking for a suspect who they believe planted something in the sand, and then fled up the beach towards Rogers Williams state beach.

“Salty Brine” was the radio personna of an announcer at one of the Providence AM radio stations. He also had a kids program on local TV from 1955 to 1968.
