Most of us are pretty reasonable here. If there is ANY EVIDENCE of increase risks or costs by allowing CHL holders to carry in their establishments, then that would be a factor.

Does ANYONE know of anything of that nature - or are the Anti-Gun zealots (once again) able to get their ear of the uppers, rather than us?

Whataburger is not the Whataburger of old.
Since they became a corporation, they moved from here in Corpus and became impersonal and all about the dollar.

People are making way too big a deal over this. You will still be able to CC there. There will be plenty of businesses that post a 30.07 sign. No big deal.

“All fast food joints are like that now. Everything is getting too expensive.”

WE are paying for Obamacare...5 out of the 6 places where we buy cooked food on a regular basis raised their prices AT THE SAME TIME (the beginning of the year) by about 25% each.

Get used to it - it is the “new normal”. In most parts of the world, low-end restraunts don’t even exist - you and wife either pay $100 to go out to dinner, or you cook at home. We certainly are not there yet, but with Obamacare and a $15 minimum wage...we are getting there fast.

Consider it part of our “transformation”.

No, SORRY! Our problem here in Texas is that 98% of the people in the state are not even allowed to Open Carry, as they don’t have a CHL. The 2% that do very rarely Open Carry...it’s just not very smart, in general.

Yet businesses come at us like we’re mass murderers. What we would like to see is ANY EVIDENCE, even anecdotal, as to whether one guy showing up once a month with side arm is hurting their business. We get mad because some businesses will not even try...and it’s because they live in fear of a few amplified voices on the left.

We are not going to be party to the left’s efforts to undercut our right.

The dollar is strong and there's no inflation. Is that a joke?

Nobody can open carry until Jan 1, but you are entitled to your opinion.

It seems to me that Whataburger just doesn't want people showing their guns. You can still walk in with them. Just don't show em.

Personally, I would be leery of showing I had a gun when somebody could very easily steal it after distracting me.

Whataburger makes great hamburgers.

By “Corpus”, I’m guessing you’re talking about Corpus Christi, Texas. Have the atheists raised hell about your city’s name yet?

Good point. My comments were based on the twitchy post. Still, I never eat there.

Not true. Whataburger has lots of outlets in Open Carry states. I would like to know what is scaring them so much now...especially considering our PATHETIC LAW in Texas.

< Boycott them! Picket them!

I hate to hear that Whataburger has taken any type of anti-gun stance at all because they make a really good hamburger much better than say a McDonalds or a Burger King. I’m not sure why they would make this decision unless maybe they think that the presence of peiple openly carrying firearms might scare away enough of their business to make a substantial dent in their sales. I’m thinking this is purely a business decision and not a political one. As long as they don’t mind concealed carry I don’t have a problem with them.

Oh! I remember my daughter and I traveling from CA to GA in 2003 - in the middle of nowhere in TX getting off the highway to find something to eat. That was the only thing we found and HOW HORRIBLE it was! I believe the only signs we saw along the highway about food were TACOS, TACOS, TACOS! How could I forget? Not a Denny’s until we were outside of El Paso...

Not a hard decision for me. I’ve never been sicker than once after I had eaten at a Whataburger. The memory of it still makes me cringe.

I agree. They said some people will feel uncomfortable seeing people openly carrying weapons. I’m sure that’s true.
Whataburger says concealed carry in their restaurants are not a problem. That’s more than most will allow.

It is going to be interesting when people at gas pumps are armed. You KNOW there will be thugs without permits openly carrying and the cops will be asking lots of people for their papers. The first time a cop asks a thug for his papers and the cop is shot is when the republicans will start to cave and overturn the law.
