The Boy Scouts of America (BSA) has unanimously approved a resolution to end the organisation's ban on gay adults working as leaders.
The group's National Executive Board will meet to ratify the resolution on 27 July, the Boy Scouts said in a statement.
It is a major step towards ending a policy that has caused deep rifts in the group, which was set up in 1910.
The BSA voted to end a ban on allowing open gay boys to become scouts in 2013.
Earlier this year, former US defence secretary Robert Gates, who is BSA president, told the group's national meeting that the ban on gay adults needed to end, saying it was no longer sustainable.

No need. It will fall apart on its own. How many parents want to send their young boys on overnight camping trips with leaders who want to be "openly gay"?
The Scouts should require that all leaders reveal their sexual preference...if they lie they can be fired for fraud...and this info should be provided to all parents.

Although our son’s scout troop and leaders were above reproach, this is one of the reasons why we are glad we are not involved any more.
DS is sticking with 4-H, farming and football.
I hope that Trail Life loses no time in contacting these religious organizations and inviting them in. Sticking with BSA is a no win proposition. They will either be facing lawsuits from the pink mafia wanting in or see their charter fees skyrocket to cover the increase liability of sacrificing common sense on the altar of political correctness.
The Boy Scouts may continue to thrive in countries such as Japan and India where common sense still prevails.
They will never get another dime of my money. I feel sorry for the boys. Are they going to remove “morally straight” from their oath or are they just going to turn it into a lie?

I wonder if men will get to be leaders in the girl scouts. Or how about women leaders in the boy scouts? After all, what does it mean to be a boy? Liberals don’t know and they own the organization.

May I suggest considering a flying camp for your children? You can solo in a sail-plane at 14 and go on to an interesting avocation or rewarding career. I come from a pilot family and can highly recommend it, even over Scouting. Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA.ORG) and the Experimental Aviation Association (EAA.ORG) both have youth programs. I’m sure other organizations have similar ideas. Don’t leave a hole in young people’s lives, or it will be filled by those you may not approve!
Is IS interesting how some homosexuals push so hard to get jobs handling youth — whether in scouting or public or church schools. These are perhaps just about the only jobs homosexuals should not be hired for — both due to the obvious potential for abuses and as a matter of role models for the young. (A homosexual who manages to keep his private life private may be ok yes, but here were talking about the other kind). I’m all for non- discrimination but there are just a few situations where some discernment is appropriate, IMHO. Scout leader is one of them for sure b
A better option would be for decent people to retake control over BSA. It may take us a few years, and parents should go on all outings with their kids until then, but BSA is too valuable to give up just because of a temporary gain by these evil perverts.
