"We're not certain why this member of armed forces brought this gun to the office."

How do you say that with a straight face??????

No idea who any such thing can be spoken.

Also, I’d rather shoot myself in the leg with my own gun than be shot to death by a jihadi at my office.

Unfortunate incident, but this is what happens when there is no security plan in force. Obviously there will be military personnel with various levels of training and specialties on any base or military center. That is why there should be a trained security team in place to secure the premises, you know, like I have at my church.

The current climate would have rather that he shit his GI issue diapers.

Because that’s what how they think the military should operate.

Any time you have people handling guns, no matter how safe you try to be, and no matter how many safety procedures, there will be accidents.

The normal and first reaction to that statement I referenced is: “They can’t be that stupid in the media. That was immediately followed by “Oh, yes. They can be that stupid.”

Many of them do completely believe the horse-hooey that comes out of their stinking pie-holes.

Nonsense. When safety procedures are NOT followed is when negligence happens.

The negligent discharge of a weapon is not an accident.

I disagree.

It sounds as if you feel that even though there are rules for firearm safety, an accident is inevitable, no matter how safe you try to be.

Firearm accidents are completely and totally preventable. If one fastidiously follows the outlined rules, it cannot happen. It is pretty simple. Sure, there may be accidents due to equipment failure and such, but...I will bet money that if you look at how many gun accidents are caused by equipment failure versus failure to comply with the basic rules of gun safety, that the ratio would be 1000:1 or even 10,000:1. Or more.

Now, if you are saying that accidents are going to happen because dumb asses don’t follow safety rules...yes, we can agree on that!

I try not to have ‘accidents’ with a tool designed to kill people.

As a risk assessor, and a safety professional,
I can tell you that statement is absolutely and unequivocally true.

I worked as a watch stander in a U.S. military organization for 14 years. During this time every 12 hours would bring another crew on duty and the weapons would be exchanged. I personally know of three incidents involving the weapons. Fortunately there were no injuries.

Accidents happen. Every police officer has an inadvertent discharge story.

Sadly, the media and gun control freaks will make hay of any accident.

I’ve handled guns all my life and agree. Every year we have a big shoot at my brother’s outdoor range and we always have safety talks.

Maybe done on purpose to keep the military disarmed so the regime can go ahead with its coup d’état?
