Trump attacks McCain's record as war hero, draws rebuke from GOP presidential field

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump’s criticism Saturday of fellow party member and Arizona Sen. John McCain for being “captured” during the Vietnam War brought sharp rebuke from others in the GOP field.

“He was a war hero because he was captured,” Trump said at the Family Leadership Summit, in Ames, Iowa. “I like people who weren’t captured.”

Most of the 14 other GOP candidates, including some at the summit, immediately criticized Trump’s remarks.

Former Texas Gov. Rick Perry tweeted that McCain “is an American hero” and that all U.S. prisoners of war “deserve our nation's highest debt of gratitude” and that Trump’s comments are “disgraceful.”

Trouble is McCain refused to be released because he knew what his peers would think, and for what that would do to his career (sic). Instead of being a heroic act McCain just was being self serving. The man was and is a vile snake.

“I believe there was more to McCain’s time as a prisoner of war than he would want us to know.”

Perhaps Trump was alert and a careful enough reader to understand the two Democrat-sponsored actions, Obama/McCaskill and McCaskill/Leahy Senate Bill 2678 and Senate Resolution 511 from February and April 2008. Both claimed but didn’t prove that McCain was a natural born citizen and actually eligible to be president. The first bill, the “Foreign Born Children of Military Citizens Natural Born Citizen Act”, failed to pass, and the Senator John McCain Natural Born Citizen Resolution, which had clever misdirection by Obama’s Harvard Adviser, Larry Tribe, and by the fraud Ted Olsen, is not actionable - resolutions do not make law.

Rsolution 511, signed by every Senator including Obama contains the quotation by Judge Michael Chertoff, a retired Chairman of the DHS: Chertoff: “My assumption and my understanding is that if you are born of American parents, you are naturally a natural-born American citizen,” “That is mine, too,” said Leahy.” As an exercise for the few who still grant the Constitution more authority than blogs, pundits, and can read for themselves, read Senate Resolution 511 and in particular the clever obfuscation by Larry Tribe and Ted Olsen. You can find the logical hedges around “born on our territory and born to parents who were citizens at his birth” but you may not have read the Nationalization Act in the 1st Congress, 1790, upon which Tribe/Olsen rested their case which stated that the children of citizen parents born “over the seas” should be “reputed” natural born citizens.

If you read the text, presuming you find a version unexpurgated by Soros’ activists, you will read that it was entirely rescinded in 1795 with the term “natural born citizen” replaced “citizen”. That difference is critical as it recognized that Congress could not interpret the terms of the Constitution, a responsibility reserved to the Supreme Court. Article 1 Section 8 authorizes and orders Congress to make “uniform rules for Naturalization”. Natural Born Citizens are Citizens, but Citizens, defined by U.S. Code, man’s laws, are not necessarily natural born.

These are smart people who depend upon keeping the citizenry ignorant as they depreciate the Constitution. Even Justice Gray, who wrote the Wong Kim Ark decision, cited the precedent established in Minor v. Happersett when he made Wong Kim, born to legal resident non-citizen parents in San Francisco a citizen, not natural born, in his confusing tomb full of British Common Law. Britain is built around subjugation to the Crown, and deals with “subjects” and not “citizens”, who are considered as sovereign individuals. Barack himself said he was born s subject of the British Commonwealth by the 1948 British Nationality Act. He was protected from ever having to have his certain ineligibility examined, and never claimed to be natural born.

McCain’s eligibility could only be resolved by reinterpretation by the Supreme Court of Minor v. Happersett, which would never happen because Obama was obviously not born to citizen parents, and was not, by his own admission, a natural born citizen. Since both parties had ineligible candidates, neither would permit eligibility questions to be legitimized. McCain is a traitor to his oath as a naval officer, retired or not. McCain is a traitor to his oath to defend and protect the Constitution, more so than Obama who was always honest about his not considering the Constitution as relevant for our times.

McCain’s eligibility had been questioned during the previous ten years, dozens of WaPo NYT, and LAtimes articles and dozens of legal essays, and never resolved. Every Senator knows it, but they also know the sources of money, both for their use, and the investment in companies who would be generous with them as long as McCain follows orders. Who can blame Alwaleed bin-Talal for trying to bribe Giulianni after 9/11. Percy Sutton told us Alwaleed was Obama’s patron, but our media dismissed the elderly attorney and former Manhattan Borough President. Vernon Jarrett told us in the Chicago Tribune about bin-Talal’s program to spend twenty million dollars/year to “educate” American minorities in 1979, just about when bin-Talal’s ward was partying his way through Occidental.

McCain has always been a tool. Without him Obama would not have kept his office, since other Senators, as corrupt as they are for having violated their oaths, had tried to amend the Constitution’s definition of natural born citizenship between 2000 and 2007. Among Republicans Orin Hatch tried to amend Article II Section 1 to open the door for Schwarzenegger. Dana Rohrabacher tried to amend it, twice, and Nickles of Arkansas. Among Democrats John Conyers tried twice, possibly to pave the way for Obama, Barney Frank, John Menendez. All of these Congressmen knew well the definition they were trying to amend.

While I happen to think there should be an amendment to address the ineligibility of children born to parents in the military who couldn’t reach an embassy hospital to give birth, no such amendment has been passed. McCain was born in 1936, just a year before the Canal Zone was granted sovereignty by Congress. The tardy decree by Congress was probably an oversight, but the law was clear. If you read the Tribe/Olsen letter you will see that they alluded to it. Obama is in office through the clever legal trickery of both parties, both of whom owe much to the deep pockets of the Saudi Royal Family whom we are, ironically, leaving high and dry as we fund Iran’s nuclear development processes and promise not to allow Americans to participate in the joke called monitoring for which we will pay the U.N. hundreds of millions of dollars.

Good old Jeb Bush, running with an outright lie against Trump.

I'm really starting to like Trump. All the right people hate him.

Your analysis is nothing short of AMAZING. A political mind such as yours should consider writing editorials (that would actually be "educationals").

To this point: "Obama is in office through the clever legal trickery of both parties, both of whom owe much to the deep pockets of the Saudi Royal Family whom we are, ironically, leaving high and dry as we fund Iran’s nuclear development processes..."

I have been vaguely and somewhat ominously aware of the Saudi's getting a lot more leverage on our systems (political and religious). I am definitely amused that they are not getting value for their dollar, at least when it comes to OTrauma.

I read that the Washington Compost incorrectly reported Trump’s statement. They left out an all important statement that would have made the statements non inflammatory toward McCain’s service. This is trickery by the Rhinos, Democrats and the MSM piling on Trump. I wonder how many politicians really read what Trump actually said before piling on with their demagoguery?

Here's a trick I use: I pick one word out of the title, the more unusual, the better. I search for that word up to the date of the publication of the article.

I've never been dinged for a duplicate post, yet. :)

“From what I read, McCain did NOT get a promotion during his captivity. Read the article I posted twice on this thread.’

I never said he did.....,but I was thinking of “Sgt” Bergdahl.....who deserted, became a POW and was “promoted” during his captivity to Sgt......

contrast this, and how McCain is generally thought of, to how other nations view their POWs.....

I'm not sure I like Trump but I sure do like how he is burning the GOPe types. By the time Trump exposes his liberalism, I'm hoping conservatives will have learned how to fight by his example.

Did any posters here but you and I look at the exchange with that neocon GOPe assjack Luntz goading and arguing when this started

Trump needs to stay tough and keep firing

This is a prime example as if we needed yet another where the establishment GOP will only fight its base which it loathes

Not the Dems

I want Trump to destroy their foundations out from under them

That alone is progress

Folks might note only Cruz keeps off Trumps back

Cause he gets it

Trump is making something happen ....and its huge

They are scared shitless

From Preibus to Corker etc

Shaking

Exactly. While I haven't decided if I believe he is for-real, or a poser intended on damaging GOP opponents, he still is showing -- accidentally or on-purpose -- what we in America still really want.

Well, the sane Americans, anyway.

Yes. Here's the FR thread on Sharyl Attiksson's article on the Post's lie, "Fact Check: The Washington Post on Donald Trump and John McCain.":

That is what I have read too. McCain did cooperate with the North Vietnamese. The descriptive word “weasel” comes to mind and defines McCain’s character. He is Obama’s counterpart and might be just as corrupt.

It looks like Trump said he was a war hero, but wasn’t to happy to admit it. We need less eggshells in this country and in general the Republicans look pathetic with their outrage dialed to 11.

"And, how dare you criticize those who served, when you never wore the uniform?"

I never served and I criticize McCain and I criticize John "F'n" Kerry also...

Just because one served does not elevate them to some sort of protected status...

Why do the proprietors of the Hanoi Hilton refer to McCain as the “Songbird”? And how did he gain 30 pounds when he came out while all the others lost pounds?
