Hackers have stolen and leaked personal information from online cheating site Ashley Madison, an international dating site with the tagline: Life is short. Have an affair.
The site, which encourages married users to cheat on their spouses and advertises 37 million members, had its data hacked by a group calling itself the Impact Team. At least two other dating sites, Cougar Life and Established Men, also owned by the same parent group, Avid Life Media, have had their data compromised.
The Impact Team claims to have complete access to the companys database, including not only user records for every single member, but also the financial records of ALM and other proprietary information. For now, the group has released just 40MB of data, including credit card details and several ALM documents.
According to the information security journalist Brian Krebs, who broke the news, ALM has confirmed that the hacked material is genuine, and the company is working to remove from the net the material that has already been posted. But the initial leak is just a taster, according to the Impact Team, which accompanied the data with a manifesto threatening release of further information if Ashley Madison and Established Men are not permanently closed.
Avid Life Media has been instructed to take Ashley Madison and Established Men offline permanently in all forms, or we will release all customer records, including profiles with all the customers secret sexual fantasies and matching credit card transactions, real names and addresses, and employee documents and emails. The other websites may stay online, the groups statement reads.

All of the Ten Commandments can be derived from Natural Law. The guilty atheist adulterers were maybe still a little in touch with their natural heart?
Isn’t that always the way? The Soviets used ‘honeypots’ to gain info/control over Western businessmen/pols/spies for years. It was not new, either.
Lucky for me I used the moniker “Cry if I Want To” rather than what I use on FR. So I should be okay.
Bet if they did the same thing to grindr Obama would have Homeland Security all over it.
Since they dont believe that God gave us the Ten Commandments, whats really wrong in their moral universe about adultery?

They sleep better at night ...... for now.
RE: All of the Ten Commandments can be derived from Natural Law. The guilty atheist adulterers were maybe still a little in touch with their natural heart?
Yep. Atheist uses all moral principles, and appeals to them but can give no intelligible argument for their existence.
I recognize every name.
Don’t threaten. Just DO it.
Torrent that crap, then it’ll never go away.
AM will lose their credibility and their customer base will dry up.
Doesn’t seem like the hackers are mad about infidelity, just that this garbage site supposedly lied about how secure its records are.
“The hackers main point of contention is with the fact that Ashley Madison charges users a fee of £15 to carry out a full delete of their information if they decide to leave the site. Although users have the option of permanently hiding their profile free of charge, the companys advertisements claim that the full delete service is the only way to completely remove their information from the servers.
But the hackers say that that claim is a complete lie.
Users almost always pay with credit card; their purchase details are not removed as promised, and include real name and address, which is of course the most important information the users want removed, they allege.
Freegards
I predict someday there will be violence against their founder or employees by a cuckolded spouse. They’re definitely playing with fire.
Glad the hackers found a way to force people to live the way they should. Society is always best when our moral betters make choices for us./
” All of the Ten Commandments can be derived from Natural Law.”
Agree. And most of them revolve around “the pursuit of LONG TERM happiness”. In other words, it’s easy enough to see how a one night stand can lead to short term happiness, not as obvious how it could result in downstream misery. Thus morality - which are simply rules to live by that increase your odds for long term happiness.
Sweet. I think this is fantastic use of hacking. Expose these people and the money-making site that facilitates such behavior.
Athiests? I’ll bet 90% of them are church members and likely half go to church average amount or more. it is the goody-two-shoes that are the first to cheat. Wonder how many publicly known people will be on the lists?
Haha! Good!
Between this and the recent Sony hack, I’m really starting to find myself in the pro-hacker camp; a distinct reversal of my previous stances on the matter.
It would be funny if ole BJ’s name come up.
Hillary: “Bill, why are you so nervous lately?”
Huh?...but...but...it just seemed perfectly natural that there would be gajillions of women just looking for the chance to cheat on their husbands with anonymous strangers they trolled online. How could a business model based on completely up-ending all of the most basic human female hardwiring turn out so completely wrong? / sarcasm
Well that salts it! I am never going back to that site again.

Ahhh, but did you register? LOL.
