How can we tell the new deluge from the normal deluge?

LOL, that would be even funnier if it weren’t true.

The Peso was devalued in 1976, 1985, and 1994, the last of which had the changeover to the New Peso, which stripped three zeros from the value of the old Peso.

The Peso was devalued in 1976, 1985, and 1994 Yep, I remember some of those devaluations and the 5-6 cents exchange rate. So the headline today is misleading except that the current peso is ridiculous compared to what it was 40-50 years ago.
To: yefragetuwrabrumuy
Yep. Before 76 it was 12.5 pesos to the dollar. We rounded, e.g.: 3 pesos made a quarter, etc. In Ensenada, a movie was 6 pesos. 5 pesos bought a beer at Hussongs.

Totally misleading! More like a total lie. In my navy days (1976-80) we 'squids' regularly frequented Tijuana, and I remember the exchange rate being some hundreds (or maybe thousands even) to 1 U.S. dollar.

The apparent allure of Corona escapes me. Perhaps its’ because I still have working taste buds!

Don’t drink Corona myself, but I see it in the beer store and it’s priced equal to or a bit higher than comparable American beers. Makes no sense.
Same as when I lived 30 miles from the Canadian border and Molson was the same price as here in Pittsburgh.
