Donald Trump half-apologizes to John McCain

Donald Trump nearly apologized to Arizona Sen. John McCain in an interview with Fox News’ Bill O’Reilly on Monday night.

“I want you to say something to Senator McCain tonight, man to man, right to him, right now,” O’Reilly said at the end of his segment with the Republican presidential candidate, who is at or near the top in several recent national and state polls.

In response, Trump said that he respected McCain, the GOP’s 2008 nominee and a five-term senator who spent more than five years as a prisoner of war in Vietnam.

“I used to like him a lot. I supported him. I raised a lot of money for his campaign against President Obama, and certainly, if there was a misunderstanding, I would totally take that back,” he said. “But hopefully, I said it correctly and certainly, shortly thereafter, I said it correctly,” Trump told O’Reilly.

I wish like hell that the media would jump on this story but they gave the old traitor a pass in 2008 and they continue to give him a pass. Fox News is the worse.

Has John McCain apologized to Donald Trump for calling his 15000 audience crazies? That insult to 15000 Americans attending Trump's speech was the reason for Trump's non PC response about McCain. John McCain owes 15000 people an apology for his PC castigation of them as being not sane.

This needs to be the end of it. For once Bill OReilly did the world a favor and walked Trump across the bridge to redemption and now we can all move to other issues. Wasting time on a despicable individual like John McCain is unproductive.

Good question
The reason is Trump has no political ideology of any sort
He will say anything at anytime and do anything at any time if it is expedient.
Expediency rules and it works very well in making money

I have said the same thing...and I get excoriated for it.

Trump is a chameleon...it is a shame how many on FR don’t see it.

No. He raised money for McCain, as Bill O’Reilly mentioned last night. Raised a good deal of money.

You are right...

I was mistaken. I apologize for it.

I took him awhile to say he endorsed McCain on Larry King in 2008. He did say he endorsed him though.

However, he also had said some VERY nice things about Hillary...I think this is what confused me.

In many ways both Trump and Obama remind me of Chauncey Gardener in Being There

Also I don’t see a whole lot of deep thought going on in regards to all this

I am not familiar with the reference, Woofie. Can you elaborate please?

I just want people on FR to answer WHY we support a Democrat just because he he talks a good game.

Also, the problem is that I asked how they could criticize Cruz for supporting McCain when their guy did the same.

Don’t mess with them, though. They are spiteful.

“BEING THERE” was a very good movie that came out in 1979

Here is the synopsis

In this provocative comic fable, Peter Sellers is brilliant as a slow-witted, childlike gardener who becomes homeless when his employer dies. Although the gardener’s only knowledge of the world comes from watching television, his simpleminded pronouncements are perceived as profound insights, and he is seriously considered as a Presidential candidate.
