I’d say that two generations of veterans who were hamstrung by ludicrous ROE will vote with gusto for someone whose ROE allow him to destroy the enemy.

Iowa takes its early primary too seriously. All primaries should be on the same day, no exceptions.

I've been saying this for years.

Have three national primaries. (That's 50 separate elections in 50 states.)

One set of primaries the end of January to weed out the clowns and pretenders. Candidates need at least 10% of the vote in a given state to move on, or they are eliminated from the next ballot.

A second set of primaries the end of March. Now you need at least 25% of the vote to move on. This ensures no more than 3 candidates in each given state move on to the finals.

A final set of primaries to be held in June. Delegates are then awarded for the national conventions.

Never could understand why any Republicans pay any attention to Iowa as it is a blue state. When they are no longer “Idiots Out Walking Around”, then they deserve to be heard. Otherwise, as the first voice of the GOP, they are INVERSE indicators! If and when they deliver electors to the Electoral College, they become worth watching.

I know that, I live in the Omaha area. The problem is, the silly, staged, caucuses are taken as primaries by everyone else including the press and the parties. The early part of it is used as an indicator by everyone else as to who will be the probable winner to support and who has been knocked out or the running.

Then there’s the fact that Iowa has come to capitalize on all of that and helps promote a supposed kingmaker status on the state. The press and the parties manipulate this ludicrous contrivance to the sole advantage of their selected candidates.

A lot of damage is done to good prospective candidates by the insignificant, non-primary that is taken as a primary caucus. New Hampshire has done something similar with its early primary, to the detriment of the selection process.

... ya’ll remember the Des Moines Register endorsing for President the guy who came home from Vietnam and said this about his fellow soldiers?.. that’s right they didn’t demand he step down from the race they ENDORSED this guy for President.. oh the hypocrisy

“they had personally raped, cut off ears, cut off heads, taped wires from portable telephones to human genitals and turned up the power, cut off limbs, blown up bodies, randomly shot at civilians, razed villages in fashion reminiscent of Ghengis Khan, shot cattle and dogs for fun, poisoned food stocks, and generally ravaged the countryside of South Vietnam”,— John F. Kerry
