No Teleprompter Trump
American Thinker ^ | Russ Vaughn

Posted on 07/24/2015 5:03:41 AM PDT by RoosterRedux

Say what you will about the Donald, the man is never at a loss to express what’s churning around in that poorly-coiffed skull. It simply flows, freely and naturally, unfearful of media consequences, in a manner that is quickly captivating large numbers of American voters who are sick unto death of mealy-mouthed politicians who parse every word of spontaneous speech for fear that they may say something that the lurking media will pounce upon.

I have been saying for years here at American Thinker that the real enemy of free speech, especially conservative speech, is the liberal media, a force so powerful and influential for only one side of the political spectrum that Republicans and conservatives have grown to fear it while Democrats look upon it as their servile public affairs department. Because of that hostile media environment for Republicans, they have become far too wary of opening up and speaking their minds, only comfortable in conveying their views and positions when leaning on a speaker’s stand and reading from a teleprompter.

As this 2016 campaign progresses, it will be interesting to see who among the myriad Republican candidates will be able to match the fearless and refreshing spontaneity of No Teleprompter Trump.

The only one I can think of is Ted Cruz. And unlike Trump, Cruz has the mental discipline to speak extemporaneously and remain focused on his message. Trump may start out with a message but takes off on wild tangents so often that it's hard to remember what his original point was.

You make chilling observations that I can’t make an argument against even if I wanted to.

Congress ceding power, the judicial becoming a tool of the executive... precedent has been set and it can’t be undone without upheaval. People don’t understand precedent... the boundaries that you do not want to ever break. If you allow something out of bounds to go unchecked you open the door for it to be done over and over again until it becomes the new normal.

It is hard to hold to traditions. An idiot liberal english teacher I had in high screwl tried to humiliate and discredit a composition I wrote based on traditional values. She called these trite. I called them time tested and irrefutable in the long run. Liberals should not play chess... they can’t see that far ahead and don’t relate action and consequence. If you only live in the moment anything is acceptable.

Someone wrote here the other day on FR that a nation is defined by boundaries, the places it will not go and the principles it will not break. I found that discussion interesting and personal. I define myself by the things I will not do more than I do by the things I do. For some reason our position is more clear that way. Liberty is broad. Liberty is only constrained by what we stand against.

I will not lie, cheat or steal or tolerate anyone who does. I will not lay a hand on another man or allow the same against me. I will not neglect my family or my God. I will not covet.

Cruz is brilliant.

Trump is probably cagey but I don’t think he is a crook. He is bright but very bold to the point of reckless probably.

I don't think Trump is a crook. I think he's cunning but honestly he doesn't strike me as being all that bright. Certainly nowhere near the Cruz level of intelligence.

Of course not and I did not suggest he was anywhere near Cruz in IQ... Other things can compensate for IQ though and without other things IQ may not be enough.

I said Cruz is brilliant... I’m not sure what other qualities he has yet. I think he is probably courageous but he waffled on the TPA mess... he has some learning to do about principles.

In a knife fight between the two... I’d bet on Trump.

My Dad had a saying on his desk: “Old age and treachery will defeat youth and enthusiasm every time.”

One of the few things I areciate about Michael Savage is his “Borders, Language, Culture” abbreviation of what makes a nation.

You don’t need any more proof. It is all around you and has been there for half a century.

I don’t think Cruz or Walker can do it. They left their horses in the stable. I prefer either in a proper election in a functioning Republic. We no longer fit that description. The Republic is dead. It has been replaced by a rapidly developing dictatorship. Dictatorships supplanting republics don’t do away with elections. They control them and maintain them for an appearance of legitimacy. That is why Cruz and Walker probably cannot win an election. If Trump is that Man on Horseback then the election will not be the deciding factor as to whether or not he will win, that and miscalculation by the Sultan.

Savage encapsulates things very well when he wants to.

When he doesn’t want to he gets all over my nerves.

Putting that aside though he is correct. It is simple... “Borders, Language, Culture” without them you don’t have a nation... We don’t have a nation.

Just heard Cruz explain why he at first supported TPA then didn’t.... side note. Interesting... because of a mess tagged on to it.

Curz is being played on Rush now and will be on live there soon. Worth a listen? I’m wondering why though... not because of Cruz but because of hope that soemwhere, sometime, somehow something will click and a corner will be turned. I guess hope springs eternal... without it we perish... i’ve just about perished.

He supported the Iran deal, also, and has not recantd. The man has terrible judgment, at least on first considerations of things and that is disaster in an otherwise good president.

-— What if he continues to expand his lead? What if he is the Republican nominee a year from now? -—

That’s why they can only afford to wait for so long.
