The adults patrolling the playpen of Republican politics are appalled that weve become a society where its O.K. to make fun of veterans, to call anyone who isnt rich a loser, to cast an entire group of newly arrived strivers as rapists and shiftless criminals.
Somewhere, we crossed a line from our mothers modesty to strutting braggadocio, from dutiful decorum to smashing all the china in the room, from respecting a base set of facts to a trumpeting of willful ignorance.
Yes, how did we get to a point where up to one-fourth of the party of Lincoln, Eisenhower and Reagan now aligns itself with Donald Trump? Those same political marshals would have us believe hes a demagogue, a jackass, a cancer.
They say hes trashing the Republic brand. They say hes stirring up the crazies, in the words of Senator John McCain. But Trump is the brand, to a sizable degree. And the crazies have long flourished in the Republican media wing, where any amount of gaseous buffoonery goes unchallenged.

Periwinkle is the original source of the chemotherapy drug vincristine.
Deadly nightshade fruit is deadly because it contains atropine, a commonly used drug.
Quinine, still used as a malaria treatment, came originally from the bark of the cinchona tree.
Diosgenin comes from the Mexican Yam. The synthesis of this molecule resulted in the first commercially available oral contraceptive.
The NY Times is getting extra exposure here for its propaganda today.
Trump is the poison his party concocted

Uhhh....wasn’t Reagan stirring up the crazies when he said “tear down that wall”? The wall we have to tear down is the one that protects anyone in DC from accountability for lying in order to get elected.
The New York Times said Reagan would get into WWIII but the opposite happened
The Times never had the Republican’s back. NYT F-U
Trump is like chemo-therapy, the establishment political class is the cancer. In a healthy body you would not take the chemo, but the body politic is dying from a malignancy that is threatening its very life. The Dems and the GOPe must be poisoned so that liberty and the country survive. Trump is no health food, but DC is not anywhere near healthy.
Just days after the polls are published leftists rush to destroy the one who threatens their stranglehold on power.
We did not create Trump. The NY Times and its allies did.
i think you illustrate your point effectively.
Times be hatin’ on The Donald.
Hint: the entire group of "newly arrived strivers" under discussion are illegal aliens, which means they entered our country in violation of the law. That means they are criminals, and yes it's okay to call criminals "criminals". That's why we have that word - describe people who commit crimes.
Bush was the poison.
“gaseous buffoonery”
Sounds like the NY Times is talking about themselves.
This Egan guy does sort of get it.
The GOPe did “create” Trump. By failing to actually fight back against the last couple decades of PC incrementalism being shoved down this country’s throat by the Left.
Well to point that out. I like it. “We didn’t create Donald Trump. The New York Times did.”. I may even change my tag line, if you don’t use it. That is gold right there.
At this point, they are about as relevant as the rest of the dinosaur media which they symbolically lead.
Impotence, of course, breeds anger and frustration, and causes failing entity such as the Times to lash out in not only a dishonest fashion, but also one which is growing "progressively" less coherent.
We're watching the death throes of a species of media which has become obsolete, and will soon be, practically speaking, extinct.
Grey Lady Down...
Thank you. I wasn’t going to use it as a tag line.
You should!
