People keep bringing these logical arguments up, but they simply don’t realize the courts do what the courts want to do. Can anyone imagine the feminists/lesbians on the SCOTUS supporting a perceived regressive, chauvinistic system like polygamy? I can’t, and therefore it won’t be passed.
They literally make the law up as they go.

Yes. And rubes like Ted Olson scoff at that truth.
How about any and all perversions of marriage and society becoming the rage? After all, the perverts and freaks won the last Supreme Court battle, under the umbrella, “equal rights.” Hooey.
Sense federal law now defines marriage one must look to federal law what is legal. What is not forbidden is allowed.
And then that should allow the Mormons to sue all of their persecuters over the decades! /lol but a little serious
I expect polygamy to be legalized soon, and I will actually consider it to be real marriage. I don’t approve, and I consider it both bad national policy and bad for those who participate, but it is marriage under the traditional definition that has been in place for thousands of years. I will never refer to gay “marriage” without the quotes. But I will call polygamy marriage.
Everyone in a polygamous “marriage” would have to have equal footing, and our marriage and survivorship laws are not written with more than two people in mind. There is no way under current law to accommodate such a thing.
There is absolutely no basis whatsoever for three or more people and nothing in our laws allow for or make exceptions for that sort of things. It is foreign to the way our society and laws work, both currently and historically.
Additionally, there doesn’t really seem to be a call for it.
