Yahoo finance ^ | October 10, 2014 | Elena Holodn

Donald Trump catapulted himself into the spotlight with his gilded real estate ventures and vibrant personality. The latter is what has made his show "The Apprentice" such a huge success. And over the years, he's had an opinion or two about the business world. "In the end, you're measured not by how much you undertake but by what you finally accomplish," Trump once said. But like any successful business person, Trump has had his share of setbacks. Here, we present to you 12 Trump businesses that went belly up or no longer exist.

The Trump media circus makes for great entertainment, but I will say that Trump is NOT POTUS MATERIAL.

While Republican voters might flirt with a drunken AW at a bar, at the end of the night they are going to go home with their wife or gf

Trump, for many Republican voters is basically nothing more than a Summer fling, a distraction.
Most will come to their senses eventually and will vote with their senses.

Thankfully, the election is not for another 15+ months.
Trump will likely be nothing more than a fond memory for some, while most will say “What was I thinking?”

If Trump was doing this a year from now, most Conservatives would reject him as being damaging to their chances of winning the WH, calling him “stealth RINO”

I can post lots of analogies, but I’m not drinking the Trump kool-aid anymore, except for an occasional glass or three at night or weekends, but come election time I will sober up completely.

My guess is that the Trump Kool-aid will have lost its appeal by then and the hangover will be far worse than the euphoria which will turn off most voters.

The only Trump discussion leading up to the election is will Cruz be able to win by a large enough margin to overcome the votes of the drunks writing-in Trump instead of voting Cruz, along with the Dems cheating and election fraud.

What will the margin be?

5%?
That wont even cover election fraud and cheating.
Not to mention the media and academia bias factor.

10%?
Getting warm, but do we really know?

Sobriety is not always fun, but provides much mental clarity.

Wow! A hugely successful businessman who has failed at some business ventures! That's it! He's no good!

Do I really need a SARC tag?

How many businesses have any of the other candidates started? Thanks.

I cannot believe folks, here on THIS forum, of ALL places...belittle Trump’s net worth and his business experience. Yes, he’s failed at some of his businesses....at least he’s had the guts and the ability to even start a business. Hey....he DID build that!

To fix this mess we’re in, this country needs a leader who has signed the FRONT of the payroll checks. Someone who understands exactly how free markets work...and how they trickle down to benefit EVERYONE in the income/profit stream.

Trump is the true American Dream story.

I’m puzzled at the tone of the article.

Ok, so Trump has had business failures . Overall, he’s done quite well, however.

In the 2012 campaign, we had to listen to how Romney and Bain Capital bought companies and laid off people. One of whom lost health insurance and got cancer, etc. etc. Which was all blamed on Romney.

Anybody in business is going to be able to point to failures in their life.

Almost all of us in life, can point to failures and setbacks in our lives, before we got into successful careers, ending up living in places we wanted to be, or otherwise set up our lives in the way we wanted to live them.

It’s hardly shocking that Trump has had business failures over the years. What are we supposed to take away from this, that he’s a bad businessman? A bad businessman worth billions???? I just don’t get it.

He became a billionaire by failing? Or he branched out multiple times, failed, and tried something else rather than being cowed by the failures?

What is the point of this article?

Cruz has no realistic chance in 2016

He knows that and is beginning the ‘20 campaign early

It certainly is. It’s clear that Trump doesn’t give up easily. What a character flaw!

The only way to avoid failure is not to try in the first place and every failure is another rung on the ladder to success.

I suspect you are correct.
At age 44 he’s got decades of time ahead.

(I’m not sure America will ever elect another non-Dem POTUS in my lifetime, but that’s another topic).

How much taxpayer money was involved in these failures? I’ll guess zero. Since I didn’t invest, I don’t much care. IT”S NOT MY BUSINESS.

Now let’s talk about how many billions of taxpayer dollars that were spent & are STILL being spent on failed businesses by Obama. Let’s talk about all the businesses that have failed because they cannot bear the onerous Federal regulations enacted under Obama. This is my business.

What Trump is practicing is capitalism, where even business icons sometimes lose their money, while what Obama is practicing is cronyism where the taxpayers always lose.

Side question: What is a drunken AW?

My comment on Trump is, fling or not, I take great satisfaction in his 15-minutes of fame outing those on the Republican slate (declared or not) about their positions on illegal alien invaders. I also give him high marks on giving liberaldom apoplectic fits of the vein bursting magnitude.

Perhaps someone can do an article on the number of people associated with Bill and Hillary Clinton that “no longer exist”.

Zing! Well done.

And in Trump’s case it include getting money from government to avoid failure then complaining about crony capitalism.

He and Michael Moore are amazingly similar in that respect.

Cruz will make an excellent VP for Trump, & an excellent follow on President.

What is reported in this article is fair comment; This man is asking us to allow him to handle our dying economy. His prior success or failure economically is “fair game.”
