Huckabee: ‘In Many Ways’ I’ve Been Saying the Same Things as Trump For Years
Breitbart ^ | 07/25/2015 | Ian Hanchett

Posted on 07/25/2015 10:50:56 AM PDT by E. Pluribus Unum

Republican presidential candidate and former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee argued that “a lot of the things” Donald Trump is saying ” are things that, in many ways, I’ve been saying those for eight years, before he was a Republican” on Saturday’s “Fox & Friends” on the Fox News Channel.

Huckabee said that Trump has “struck a nerve with people,” and “I’ll be honest with you, a lot of the things that he’s saying, those are things that, in many ways, I’ve been saying those for eight years, before he was a Republican. Thing like talking about how China has cheated. Talking about how there is this Wall Street-to-Washington axis of power that grinds out jobs against Americans. I mean, these are themes that I’ve been talking about. But, let me say this, if you put as much air in my balloon, not just you, but if all the media, will pump the air in my balloon, as has been pumped into Donald Trump’s balloon, I’ll be leading the pack as well.”

That’s why I say, regardless of what you think of Trump, he is the best thing that could have happened for this campaign, he is forcing the other candidate’s hands on the issues that matter the most to us.

Huckster, Santorum, Perry—among the retreads we’ve already heard more than enough from.

It’d be like having Herman Cain back in this year.

EEGator, why do you continue to post the same photo when you know it represents a big lie? Just tell the truth about Huckabee, that should be good enough for you.

1. Huckabee offered no “pardon” to Maurice Clemmons.

For the crimes of theft and burglary, Maurice Clemmons at the age of 16 was sentenced to 108 years. In all likelihood, had the same crimes been committed by a white youth from a middle class family, he would've received 20 years and been out on probation in under ten. What Governor Huckabee did do was reduce the 108 years to a sentence of 47 years. Shortly thereafter—not simultaneously—Clemmons met the qualifications for parole, and the parole board allowed him to go free, but kept him on probation.

2. Huckabee was not an activist in the Clemmons parole.

Some have claimed that Huckabee sought and pressured the parole board to intercede in the Clemmons case. This is blatantly false. The truth is that the parole board requested the Governor to consider the sentence reduction, as did the presiding judge. Governor Huckabee sought the input from the Attorney General and the prosecutors in the case. Both declined to weigh in. The judge and parole board were both unanimous in the decision to grant parole.

3. Huckabee had nothing to do with Clemmons release.

Following the short period of time that Clemmons had been paroled, he violated his parole by committing another minor offense. As is the case in all probation issues, that violation brought him back to prison to serve time for his crimes. Once back in prison, the Governor ceased to play any role. His sentence was back in effect. Prosecutorial malfeasance and a judge's lack of action caused Clemmons’ second release from the Arkansas prison system.

If Governor Huckabee’s sentence reduction allowed Clemmons any opportunity to do crime it was to violate his parole. Once violated however, Clemmons was back into the digestive track of the Arkansas justice system.

The major scandal here is why none of the supporters of the candidate who finished third in the 2004 primaries have not focused one ounce of attention on the two judges that allowed Clemmons to go free following the rape of a child, who was a female relative, some nine years after the Arkansas prosecutors dropped the ball.

Huckabee was in essence reducing a sentence for petty theft from 108 to 47 years for a black kid. White kids would've gotten far more preferential treatment in the courts.

Just tell the truth on FR. Don't act like the liberal media and tell lies about other conservatives.

Huckabee’s Free Market Populism

02-26-09

Mike Huckabee just finished speaking here at CPAC, and what was pretty clear is that he's trying to win over skeptical economic conservatives by reframing his populism in free market terms.

He blasted the stimulus bill and the bailout, and emphasized that taxpayers shouldn't be bailing out banking executives who messed up. He claimed he was “prophetic” during the campaign for warning about the dangers of the “Wall Street to Washington axis of power.” (snip)

"What a terrible joke this guy is."

Huck is a "nice man".

He's the guy who waters and mows your lawn while you're out on vacation.

A very nice man.

But, you would NEVER ask him to change the programming on the sprinklers.

Never.

If he had the wherewithal, Huck would program the sprinklers to only work if you read it Bible verses.

He and his family are obsessed with MONEY, he moved out of the state to Florida to build his $2 Million home. He is as big a Liar as Bill Clinton and under no circumstances will I vote for this guy. He can pound sand for all I care. That enough for you?????????

How is that different than any other man in America?

No candidate can return us to the Constitution by themselves. President Reagan didn't and no one will.

What we REALLY need, at this moment in our history, is a Christian president.

Huckabee may be wrong on some things, but all of the candidates are, too. He is, however, a Christian walking a very difficult path.

Who is that?

What’s the point of posting photos over and over and not talking about the issues?

Wayne DuMond, released by Huckabee, went on to rape again and murder.

Huckabee is a big government socialist. The only reason why anyone here touts him is because he’s a Baptist preacher...no thanks.
