Why Republicans Should Be Afraid to Debate Donald Trump
Yahoo ^ | Ken Tucker

Posted on 07/25/2015 6:50:41 PM PDT by Mariner

The first Republican debate takes place Aug. 6. The candidates are busy conducting mock debates, rehearsing ways to get their messages across, and studying their opponents for signs of weaknesses, preparing little zingers that will enable them to score points and distinguish them from the herd.

Silly candidates: They should be studying tapes of The Apprentice.

If they don’t, they may end up steamrolled by the chairman of Trump Organization. No one is going to be “fired” by Donald Trump on Aug. 6, but many will be singed — they will feel the flames of his forest-fire fury. “Do not try to match him in anger and aggressiveness,” former House Speaker Newt Gingrich advised the GOP candidates in an interview with the Associated Press. “It’s not possible.”

I predict someone will try to mimic Trump’s no-nonsense style to try to earn points but will just end up embarrassing themselves.

No doubt that ¡Yeb! will try to come across as the aisle-crossing appeaser that he is.
There are many in the GOP that believe that is a winning strategy despite the failure of previous attempts.

If the GOP wants to win (which I doubt) they would try to bring in the millions who don’t bother to vote because they don’t see any difference between the two parties. A large percentage of those independent non-voters are disgusted conservatives. Give them something to vote for and win a landslide.

Because he won’t tiptoe around the truth to keep from offending someone.

They should all follow Linda Gramnesty’s lead and throw their Cell Phones on the Floor the first time Trump opens his Mouth to make his Opening Statement.

Then they can fling themselves on the Floor having Tantrum Attacks while crying out, you’re Fired, you’re Fired...

I’m sure Senator Cruz will be watching the event with a sense of bemused wonder.

That will show Trump. HAHAHAHAHA

I predict Rick Perry will read from the same speech (written by Karl Rove) to attack Trump as “Cancer which must be excised” etc.

I hope Trump does not respond by saying “Rick did you pass the IQ test”? Perry is likely to run towards Trump and try to wrestle him to the ground.

It depends. Trump is a smart guy, but I wonder if his ego will prevent him from getting professional help in preparing for it (considering that he is the Smartest Guy In the Room And Everyone Else is an Idiot). You can get only so far calling everyone else an idiot. Smart or not, they ALL need coaching.

At the very least, he should play back the last debates and take a look at Perry. Perry will not make that mistake again.

I don’t think Perry will make it to the First tier debate.

He will be in the For Forum playing with Linda Graham.

The feckless Republicans in Congress:

First they said they couldn’t do anything because they didn’t have the Presidency, House or Senate. Then they said they couldn’t do anything because Harry Reid was blocking everything in the Senate. Then they said they couldn’t do anything until the 2016 elections because Obama would veto. Now they are saying they won’t be able to do anything even with a Republican President because too many Senate seats are up for grabs in 2018.

They promised us they would defund Obamacare. They said they would reduce regulations on small businesses. More speeches, more talk, no action.

Republicans control purse strings for 5 years through majority in the House of Representatives. What have they done? All talk, no action!

"A large percentage of those independent non-voters are disgusted conservatives. Give them something to vote for and win a landslide."

That's what I see all over California.

Folks, Reagan Democrats, who have not voted for 20 years...can't wait to vote for Trump.

Let me provide an example of the impact that Trump is having on the 2016 election ... today my 84 year old father and 83 year old mother - both lifelong Democrats - told me they were voting for Trump. That my friends is the cross over appeal that telling the truth will get.

As of latest RCP average of all polls, Perry & Kasich are tied for 10th place. One of them will be out, but not both?

The way to defeat Trump is to gang up on him and make him look like he doesn’t know what he is talking about. He will get flustered and will want to lash out by the multi pronged attack from multiple opponents will not allow him to focus his counterattack

Where would we be if those guys could play to an audience of 330 million instantaneously?

It should be rather easy for a panel of politicians that have decades of experience in the inner workings of government to make someone not privy to what goes on behind the scenes look like the neophyte they are.

And I also stick with my assertion that it would be best to gang up on him and take him out. If only a single person attacks, he will counter attack effectively. But a multi-pronged attack plus rules of how debates are done will not allow Donald to respond effectively to a multi-pronged attack.
