Speaking before a crowd of newly-arrived immigrants on October 16, 1924, President Calvin Coolidge declared, as a nation, our first duty must be those who are already our inhabitants, whether native or immigrants. - See more at: https://www.conservativereview.com/Commentary/2015/07/An-Immigration-Solution-that-Puts-Americans-First#sthash.GL2lLrYO.dpuf

...and provide a “Path to Citizenship” for those that are already here illegally.
Just kidding - but if you add the words above it would sound just like the Senate Amnesty Bill of 2013. LOL!
The plan is REALLY GOOD - and sounds quite a bit like Trump is calling for.
This looks like REAL comprehensive “immigration” reform. kabar, what do you think?
There are some really good parts of his proposal for a solution.
My main contention is that we do not have a single ‘immigration’ problem that encompasses aspects of legal immigration, immigration policies for executive agency whim on refugees, or visas AND illegals.
There are at least two distinct problems. ILLEGALS and an immigration/visa system and birthright citizenship problem.
One of these problems is simple. There are laws and ‘supposed to have been executed programs’ to deal with it. Illegal is always illegal, always has been.
The other on is a matter of executive policy, implementation and a very badly needed complete reform of our legal immigration/visa system and a total reigning in of the abuse of the 14th amendment.
All “immigration reform” is always about amnesty. Without amnesty, the proponents of immigration reform have nothing to support.
Very Eloquenty put. I’m personally in the no amnesty camp. These folks broke our laws period. I’m almost to the point that we should even go so far as to suspend immigration until this mess is corrected. Yes, the sun is shining and birds are chirping where I am /sarc/
Streamline the processing and adjudication of immigration cases;
Increase coordination at the federal level by eliminating barriers to information sharing among agencies;
Leverage state and local enforcement resources by giving them a more expanded role in immigration enforcement;
Ensure that anyone who enters this nation illegally is not rewarded by being permitted to stay and work here; i.e., no amnesty. Attrition thru enforcement is the way forward;
In addition to enforcement we need to change our legal immigration policies by:
Formulating a merit based immigration system that brings in the skills and talents to keep us competitive in the global economy;
Reducing immigration levels based on need more closely approximating 300,000 a year, which is almost replacement level;
Eliminating extended chain migration, i.e., family reunification, limiting it to the nuclear family;
Promoting pro-immigrant measures that help newcomers assimilate and embrace the values and principles of our Founders and the Constitution
My “amnesty” is to allow these invaders to go home without first having served a prison sentence, and that would just be for the ones who can prove they didn’t commit any additional crimes here. The prime directive? Never, never allowed to return again for any reason.
What are you talking about? Trump would legalize those not otherwise dangerously criminal.
That’s a disaster for the country. Oh, and by the way, every other candidate in the race would at least do the same.
We’re cooked.
Yep.
Too bad the GOPe overlords have assured we have zero candidates with anywhere near this position in the race.
Thank you. Excellent suggestions on the legal side as well. Yes, chain migration and allowing in unskilled immigrants need to go.
I was about to respond to you, but you responded to yourself exactly the same. LOL!
I agree with you, of course, the REAL PROBLEM is not the crime as much, but the demographics which will determine whether we remain America or turn into a northern version of Argentina.
It may be that Trump simply understands that securing the border is a WINNING ISSUE, even with Hispanics, whereas deportations scare them...so he’s keeping quiet and not giving them ammo. Building the wall says a lot on its own...Trump just may come through on the rest, but first he has to get into the White House.
We need to kill H-1B and have a moratorium on all immigration for at least a generation. The melting pot is now a salad and we need to assimilate what we got now. You are so wrong headed I don’t know where to begin.
I see H-1B visas as a way to bring in highly skilled workers like the "Einstein" type person who can help this country. We wouldn't need H-1B visas if we had a merit based immigration system.

WTF are you talking about? First, we will never stop all immigration. Would you prevent Americans from marrying foreigners and bringing them to the US under a spousal visa? During the period 1925-65, we averaged 190,000 legal immigrants a year. We could revert back to that or some other level, which could be adjusted annually based on our needs. Right now Americans are losing jobs to immigrants and having their wages depressed.
Yes, we need to drastically reduce legal immigration from the current 1.1 million a year (1.24 million in 2015.) Since 1990 we have had 30 million LEGAL PERMANENT IMMIGRANTS enter this country along with 640,000 guest workers annually. Immigration to America is a privilege, not a right.
Nobody controls the H-1B program. Many threads have been posted with direct testimony showing that the sole purpose is to displace US It workers. You have an agenda it is clear. There are maybe 3 “Einsteins” on the whole planet, my guess they are in the USA. You age part of the gloBULList cabal that I despise. And I despise your beloved Cruz too, he wants to quadruple down on traitorous destructive behavior..
It is not just IT workers. It is across the board. Employers are using it to fill all kinds of jobs including teachers. Primer for Reporters Looking Into the H-1B Program

You must have me confused with someone else. I am not a Cruz supporter. Cruz supports amnesty and quadrupling the number of guest workers, something I have lobbied against on the Hill. I have been working for a grassroots immigration group that lobbies on the Hill. I work with NumbersUSA and CIS and others. Save your vitriol for those who deserve it.
How many "Einsteins" are there in the world?
Our immigration policies should serve our national interests, not the corporate paymasters. I worked with the Dave Brat campaign to get rid of Cantor including funding over 40,000 robocalls. Brat has been one of the few politicians willing to address legal immigration and connect it to American jobs. Groups like Middle Resolution should be emulated around the country.
Every GOP candidate should be forced to read Jeff Sessions' Becoming the Party of Work: How the GOP can help struggling Americans, and itself. Both parties have abandoned the American worker.
How many is "plenty"?
Our major hospitals could not operate without foreign doctors. The AMA has a lot to do with that by limiting the numbers of those graduating from US medical schools.
