Speaking before a crowd of newly-arrived immigrants on October 16, 1924, President Calvin Coolidge declared, as a nation, our first duty must be those who are already our inhabitants, whether native or immigrants. - See more at: https://www.conservativereview.com/Commentary/2015/07/An-Immigration-Solution-that-Puts-Americans-First#sthash.GL2lLrYO.dpuf

I can understand importing doctors, but nurses? Why?
Did you see Trump on Morning Joe this week?
He’s just like the rest of them, talking about how we’ll have to “work something out” with the good ones that are here illegally.
“Hes just like the rest of them, talking about how well have to work something out with the good ones that are here illegally.”
VERY SMART of Trump not to take the bait and talk deportation, which is all downside, since he is already way to the right of everyone else on sealing the border. Talking deportations now will kill him with the Hispanic vote, of which he may well get a decent share.
Trump will have plenty of time, and plenty of options, to take care dealing with the Illegals, once he takes office.
There is a shortage of nurses. 15% of RNs are foreign-born.
Precisely because no one wants to go into nursing knowing they'll hire foreign nurses on the cheap, self-fulfilling prophecy.
Fixed.
You could say that about any of them.
“Very clever of Jeb and Walker to talk about not only legalization, but citizenship, too—that’ll really get them off their scent! Plenty of time for deportations after the election.”
I think you’re deluding yourself.
Your solution to the shortage of doctors and nurses is?
“I think youre deluding yourself.”
...and your candidate is, maybe, Howard Stassen? If not, who? Who will SEND THEM ALL BACK?
The ONLY TIME that I can confirm deluding myself was when I trusted REPUBLICANS who ran on border security to actually come through. McCain PROMISED a big wall in 2008 and 2010 (running for Senate, when he ran ads to that effect) - he’s still in the Senate, has he DONE ANYTHING to get the wall built?
Trump hasn’t let me down yet, the others, with the possible exception of Cruz, have let me down - and some, like Rubio, simple DOUBLED CROSSED us all. So sorry, but I’m simply not going to vote for people that answer to the SAME BOSSES as Rubio (that being the Party Establishment and the big-money donors).
You may be able to flip the votes of some others here by trying to claim Trump supports Open Borders, but it won’t work for me. I’m with Trump if he wins the nomination, or if he runs Third Party, as I am sick of being lied to.
And if Trump is lying, that’s still better than rewarding the Republican lies with my vote, for maybe the Republicans will be a bit more HONEST next time, as they see Trump take away millions of their voters.
Get rid of H1Bs and raise their wages, then you’ll have plenty of doctors and nurses to choose from.
Since we are "commodisizing" labor then supply and demand dictates rising salaries for to few Docs and RN's. So the solution is market force, not artificial intervention via immigration which works against home grown labor.
They’re all scoundrels!
Doesn’t mean you don’t have to pick one of them. Just helps to keep your wits about you and not read what you want to believe into their comments to the complete contrary.
I’m not trying to flip anyone’s votes. Just trying to be part of an honest discussion.
“Just helps to keep your wits about you and not read what you want to believe into their comments to the complete contrary.”
I lost my wits with trying to figure out why I should keep voting for Republicans controlled by Karl Rove. As to Trump...in reality there is a lot he can do, other than Amnesty or deportation - perhaps work permits, but then go home afterwards - coupled with no reason to stay illegally (i.e., no welfare, no education, no chance of ever coming back if found here illegally, etc.).
I’m just willing to give him a chance, because I know, FOR SURE that no one else is even matching his promises right now, and that is all I have to go on.
I hear ya.
I hope he pans out. Really, I don’t know what I think of him right now. I know he’s the most talented on his feet, with the press, etc., of anyone out there—and in some ways, for all his bombast, the most likable too.
He’s certainly right about some of the negative and corrupt aspects of business as usual and being the only one seeming to speak honestly what so many people think and feel.
So what is being done to stimulate home grown labor? Why do we have a shortage of doctors and nurses?
Wages should be rising, since they are not there is an artificiality in the market. the importation of third world labor is that artificiality.
Correct. We have a surplus of labor. Since 1990 we have imported 30 million legal permanent immigrants. their impact on the labor market is far greater than guest workers or illegal aliens. All contribute to the destruction of the middle class. Only Santorum and Walker are talking about reducing legal immigration. Trump says he loves legal immigration.
Trump is also against Free trade that harms US manufacturing, so this balances out his stances on the ‘left over’ illegals when the wall is completed. So it is a draw for me. At least HE TALKS ABOUT IT OPENLY.
Legal immigration is a bigger problem than illegal aliens.
FYI: 40% of the illegals came here legally and overstayed their visas. The wall only solves part of the problem.
