CNN/ORC poll: Trump elbows his way to the top

(CNN)In the first national telephone poll since Donald Trump earned rebukes from Republican leaders over his comments about Senator John McCain's military service, the real estate mogul has increased his support among GOP voters and now stands atop the race for the party's nomination.

The new CNN/ORC Poll finds Trump at 18% support among Republicans, with former Florida governor Jeb Bush just behind at 15%, within the poll's margin of error.

They are joined at the top of the pack by Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker, with 10% support among Republicans and Republican-leaning independents who are registered to vote. Trump's backing has climbed 6 points since a late-June poll, while support for Bush and Walker has not changed significantly.

Trump is letting a little sunshine into the darkness and showing up the thieves, cronies and liars. While he is not politically correct or suave, his bull in the china shop approach is the best way to get the sacred cows on the run.

We could do much worse than Trump. Jeb is so bad he’s not worth discussing. If it comes to that its write-in or stay home time. It is a symptom of the “establishment” that they would try and foist another windbag, RINO on the American people.

I’m for Cruz but I’d pull the handle for Trump without a hesitation if he’s the candidate. It will be a wild ride but in the end I believe we would be a stronger nation and back on a sustainable path.

TexasFreep, how many threads are you going to make this point on? The press is ganging up on Trump and he is rising in the polls. If the other candidates pile on him he will merely point out that THEY are establishment wanting the status quo of cheap labor and open borders and he continues to go up.

The way to defeat Trump is to be the legitimate voice and champion of the base. Argue that if elected the wall will be built, the border secured, employers of illegals aggressively prosecuted and only then will the remaining illegals be dealt with. If Cruz or Walker or Fiorina take this position they have the credibility to steal away the Trump momentum.

Any of the others try this and they will be exposed as the pandering lying hypocrites they are. Remember `08 wit McCain, “I’ll build them the damned wall!” That inspired loyalty and confidence - NOT.

Trump is winning because he speaks what the base feels. Because HE is being heard, WE are being heard. Nobody else wants to embrace that message.

If you want Trump stopped, then beat him the easy way, convince American patriots that you are to his right on illegal immigration. Job done. Until then,he’s #1. That simple.

President Rick Perry lead the polls at this point in the 2012 primaries, followed by president Herman Cain.

Irony.

Before this election season, conservatives were criticized for being purists, not accepting anyone but a pure conservative for office.

Now we are being criticized for accepting a non-conservative because he is telling the truth about a number of important issues.

LOL.

One of my favorite bits in the movies comes in Broadcast News involving Holly Hunter.

Love that movie. Albert Brooks’ ‘Flop Sweat’ was classic.

I think it's going to be very important for most of the candidates to team up to attack Trump during the debates

Hopefully, it's too late. The enemies of US citizens in the media and the Republican Party threw their "hail Mary pass" with McCain. It turns out they were clueless about how much people despise McCain and it backfired.

I brought up another thought (thinking while typing, always a bit risky). It concerns Trump's peer group, born from (approx.) 1940 - 1945. We've lived our whole lives with highest expectations for the US, we're being DESTROYED by the anti-US citizen slime in DC and we vote. I'd wager our age group will be huge for Trump. In attitude, we're more like Trump than we are like our peers in politics.

Just think what would happened if someone that was more polished spoke out against the establishment! The fact that Trump is doing so well shows how unhappy the Republicans are with the establishment. And right now anyone in office is tainted—including Cruz. I like Cruz but he screwed up on TPP.

Walker is the next decent option—he has taken it to the Unions, but has been a waffle on the border. He has the big donors to pay back with cheap labor.

Do I want Trump to be President—HELL NO. But I’d vote for him over Jeb anyday. If Jeb is the nominee I’ll vote 3rd party—I won’t waste my vote again.

Do you think God has any compunctions in accepting a repenting sinner, even on his deathbed? That’s just an aside question about timeliness, etc.

The crux of the matter is I don’t give a whit about what he was; I am hearing truth from him about illegals. I know it is truth because I’m not stupid. I can see these little invaders everywhere. I see their effect in my taxes, I see what they do to neighborhoods and cities, I see them in the damned voting booth with a Spanish language ballot for cripe’s sake.

My sole desire for him is to piss off liberals and illegal lovers and to make the lives of Jeb Bush and the other appeasers on our side completely frigging miserable to the point they have to drop out or are driven out (to the lamentations of their women).

You see him as a warrior we’ve chosen to do the final battle. I, and many like me, see him as a tactical battle asset in that strategic plan to rid us of RINOs. His function right now is utterly important to ridding our field of quisling, appeasing equivocating RINOs that would stab us in the back at the first chance.

Trump has described himself as a liberal

Trump has called conservatives crazy

Trump has called free universal healthcare for all

Trump has called for a wealth tax

Trump gave money to both Hillary and Obama

Trump said he has never sought forgiveness for his sins.

Trump supports a ban on assault weapons and longer waiting periods before being “allowed” to purchase a gun.

SERIOUSLY, this guy is wrong on EVERYTHING!

He could give Hillary a run for her money for the DEMOCRATIC nomination.

Fool’s errand and a colossal waste of time and energy as Trump is sure to put his foot in his mouth a little too deep between now and then.

Nothing is as it seems in politics. The Dems with a complicit media can take Donald out at any time if they really felt it necessary, but why? They’re waiting for exactly what you want Pubs to do, self destruct trying to break Trump.

Say nothing, let Trump focus on the Dems problems, like my tag say’s. I hope he can entertain us until about Mid 2016.

The biggest loser is John McCain. He’s been blindsided by the dearth of support he’s gotten from his fellow Pubs. His support never lasted more than the current day’s news cycle, when all the 15 second sound bites were in.

Put it this way. Who would you rather have negotiating on your behalf or on behalf of your Country? The Donald, Hillary, Kerry, Obama, Jeb? Uphold the integrity of our borders? Hillary, Rubio, Christie, Perry or The Donald?

I learned my lesson the last 2 presidential elections and voted for the lesser of 2 evils, thinking Obama was/is a dire threat to the US. Well he was/is but the thing is he is just a symptom of a greater disease. If we do not do the most basic things such as secure or sovereignty/border and enforce our laws then this nation is done. It probably already is with the violation of the Constitution and the open borders socialist PC horseshyte. Cruz and Trump are the only ones addressing any of these things. The rest of the repubs are RINO’s and would be terrible presidents, every single one of them. I used to think Walker might be ok but he’s a RINO to. I learned my lesson and will not even vote if one of these two men dont make it.

How quickly we forget that OBAMA tapped into the Lefty’s Anger. He just disguised it as Hope and Change.

You never read any News Reports alluding to the Anger of the Obama Sycophant's, even though I have never seen such a Mob of Hateful Self Loathing Power Hungry Fascists in my 62 Years of Life.
