What could possibly go wrong? I’m an Eagle and a former scoutmaster. The BSA is not making good decisions in this arena. This does not bode well for the character development of our nation’s youth.

That's a LIE. The BSA won their case in the Supreme Court in 2001, confirming their right to freedom of association. They didn't have to endorse homosexuality in any form or measure, or atheism either.
The change in policy is an unforced error. The leadership made the decision because they think they'll raise more corporate contributions.
They abandoned G-d, the Scout Oath, and any remaining semblance of integrity over money.
