FERGUSON, Mo. (AP) A silent march and a day of civil disobedience are among the events being planned for next month in Ferguson to mark the first anniversary of the fatal shooting of a black 18-year-old by a white police officer, an event that galvanized the "Black Lives Matter" movement.
Organizers are calling it the "Ferguson Uprising Commemoration Weekend." Plans announced Monday include a silent march starting at 11 a.m. Aug. 9 from Canfield Drive, where Michael Brown was killed, to Greater St. Mark Family Church.
The agenda from the Ferguson Action Council includes an art event, rap and rock concerts. It calls for Aug. 10 to be a "Day of Civil Disobedience and National Call to Action."(continued)

Michael Brown is quite a poster child. Insert pics of him roughing up the store clerk in a strong arm robbery of a box of cigars here.
Here’s a good plan.
Go destroy any of the few businesses stupid enough to rebuild in your neighborhood.
Idiots will be traveling 30 miles to buy groceries for the rest of their lives.
Bravo Ferguson, Mensa memberships for all!!
LOL! Awesome!
LOL!!!!!
Choot em Elizabeth
Only in America today can a felonous thug get celebrated and cannonized for doing his dirty deed while ruining the life of an honorable LEO.
They gonna burn down the rest of it?
“Ferguson Uprising Commemoration Weekend”
They really have delusions of grandeur, attaching much more significance to their riot than it merits. I think “riot tourists” will be surprised at how crappy the area has become, and how few non-blacks they see.
I guess if any remaining businesses close and board up that day, they will be considered racist?
Yep.
Guess dem free hotdogs and free haircuts won’t enuf.
I don't understand what they think they will gain except a hatred by the poor and fear on the part of everyone else.
“They gonna burn down the rest of it?”........
Those stupid enough to still be there get what they deserve. If I owned a business there I would have been long gone already. The problem will only get worse when the street rats decide to relocate closer to newer “targets” they can loot and destroy as the cycle will then repeat itself.
The new Starbucks really needs to try and be open by then.
I am not sure what they are protesting?
The kid got killed. That was too bad, but its pretty clear he was not on the right side of the incident.
There seemed to be an environment of racial bias in the town police and government. But it seemed to be that they were using the black population more as a stream of income than beating them senseless. Never the less, that was publicized and I imagine its gotten better.
So, what exactly are they protesting now?
Sometimes it is best to take the “wins” that you get, move forward and set your goals on the next set.
Sure, it always sucks when a kid gets killed. Always.
But this kid was a punk and a thug. He was no gentle giant panda bear. He was a big, mean bear that could not co-habitate with the general population.
Are we celebrating his thug-ishness?
