Jurors on Tuesday found aggravating factors in the case against Danny Ledezma Martinez. Martinez was found guilty of first-degree murder earlier this month in the 2010 shooting of Officer Travis Murphy.

Phoenix police say Martinez has an extensive record of violent crimes.

The 34-year-old Martinez was accused of shooting Murphy with an AR-15 type rifle early on the morning of May 26, 2010.

Officers were responding to a suspicious person call and Murphy was gunned down in front of a central Phoenix home. The four-year veteran later died at a hospital.

The DP should be he default penalty for *anyone* who causes the death of another after knowingly, deliberately, doing something to that person that a reasonable person would know could even *possibly* cause serious harm.

That includes everything from shooting another in the head to pushing, causing him/her to strike their head and die.

Reminds me of the scene from Collateral

“You Killed Him!”

“No, I just shot him, the bullets and the fall killed him”.

Death penalty, what a joke! It took over 5 years just to get him convicted in his first trial. There will be many years of trials and hearings (all taxpayer paid) before a date is set. It will take 15-20 years. The criminal justice system is just a life support system for lawyers.

Even if convicted and sentenced to death the sentence will never be carried out. Western society can no longer excrete its waste products.

He'll die of old age before he'll be executed.
