Keith Richards Still Smokes A Joint 'Regularly' In Morning
The Huffington Post ^ | July 28th, 2015 | Ron Dicker

Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards, 71, still likes to wake and bake.

But he's fussy about where the weed comes from.

"I smoke regularly, an early morning joint. Strictly Californian," The Independent reports the musician told Mojo magazine for its September issue.

Richards, who is currently promoting his solo album "Crosseyed Heart," also remarked on the spread of marijuana legalization in the United States.

"One of the most pleasant things to watch is a map of America where it goes, green ... green ... green ... green," The Independent reports he said. "Whether it’s a good thing in the long run, I don’t know."

I’ve never seen someone that age move in such a fluid way....it’s uncanny.

Keef Richards can’t be killed by conventional weapons.

Coffee before everything.

I may be older than you but for me it’s a trip to the bath room before anything.....................then coffee.

At the June show, the Stones played the entire Sticky Fingers album, plus just about every other hit. And there were plenty of hits.

I wasn’t that big of a fan, but I’m glad I went. It was an awesome show. My friend, who is a fan, said who knows how much longer the Stones will still be playing since they are getting on in years. But I was thinking WE are getting older; who knows how much longer we will be able to go see them?

I saw them in Cbus in May. I can’t think of a word that appropriately describes how truly gifted they are! So full of energy! I’ve been to a few big name concerts in my life, and this was truly the best!

Voodoo Lounge would win the Stones the Grammy Award for Best Rock Album

Meh. The Stones can still sound like the Stones when they try (which is more than they did for, say, Bridges to Babylon) but they haven't written a memorable tune in 30 years.

"And George Burns is proof smoking kills."

Yep, and Keef starts his day with a joint, then switches to cigarettes. Probably a 4-5 pack a day man.

You rarely find pics of him *without* a cig.

Plus he smokes on stage.

I remember Bloomberg wanting to arrest him for violating NYC's anti-smoking ordinance.

"The guy that really amazes me is Charlie Watts. Dude is 74, and still plays the hell out of the drums."

Watts is a strange brew.

He always looks so "bored", yet is such a terrific drummer.

I read somewhere that his favorite music is NOT rock and roll.

IIRC, he prefers classical music.

You'd be surprised how many rock musicians don't listen to rock and roll at all. Frank Zappa was a primary example, almost never listened to rock music.

"Read his Autobiography, “Life”, amazing read, he is actually pretty sharp considering all the drugs. I think some of it is more of an act that anything"

"Life" IS amazing.

The first page is a quote from him: "Believe it or not, I remember it all..."

And he DOES.

The story of the opening riff for Satisfaction is interesting.

He says that it came to him in a dream. He wrote down the cords and went back to sleep.

He didn't think much of it, but he showed it to Jagger who LOVED it.

And the rest is history.

I've been fortunate enough to have started as a fan many, many years ago.

I've seen them 7 times.

Six times they just burned the house down.

Yes, they are gifted. They'll definitely put some gitty up in your britches.

But, beyond just driving rock, you get delta blues, country and jazz.

And motown.

They certainly have the biggest and broadest repertoire of any musicians I've ever been exposed to, and without doubt, anyone else playing today.

I did, actually, about a couple of months ago. He was tremendous, no doubt, but a single mile backwards on a treadmill even just walking is a challenge. President Bush was clocked (by Runners magazine) at a 6 mt. 40 sec. mile, 3 miles in 20 minutes. That man is fast. This guy, Jagger, is something else if he can do 3 backwards as fast as he does. I guess I do believe it, but I’m also incredulous/amazed.

7 times? How marvelous!

We saved up to see them. It was on my bucket list. It was expensive but worth every single copper penny. Truly a night I will never forget! Every single time I hear them now, I remember Mick and all of them, just crazy good! It was almost a religious experience. I’ve always loved them but watching them perform live was, well, a dream come true. Beat every expectation I had, and then some! Without a doubt, the most talented band ever!
