The killing of a beloved lion named Cecil by a trophy hunting dentist from Minnesota has an outraged American public asking: What kind of monsters would kill a majestic big cat for fun?
Unfortunately for one Republican presidential hopeful, the answer is: his sons.
Donald Trump was forced to weigh in on the issue this week after a gory photo of his trophy hunting sons resurfaced online, tying his family to the very practice that has sparked fierce backlash in recent days. When asked for his response at a press conference in Scotland this week, Trump was reportedly far from condemning of the fact that his sons had a hobby of killing innocent animals, too. "My sons love to hunt," The Telegraph and The Daily Mail report Trump said, though he reportedly refused to directly address shooting endangered animals. "They are members of the NRA, very proudly. I am a big believer in the Second Amendment. But my sons are hunters, Eric is a hunter and I would say he puts it on a par with golf, if not ahead of golf. My other son, Don, is a hunter. They're great marksman, great shots, they love it. I em, like golf. I don't do that."
As benign as he makes it sound, Trump's sons are hardly run-of-the-mill hunters. The family's fortune has apparently been used to fund safaris to Africa, targeting beloved animals like elephants and leopards hunting trips that can range in the tens of thousands of dollars.
While the senior Trump has stated before that he's not a believer in hunting, his unwillingness to discourage the practice outright given the chance stands in contrast to the reaction of other public figures.
“It was an animal, big freaking deal.”
Not just AN animal! It was an animal with a name! It was an animal that wore a collar and even bow ties at times.
That was easy to correct.
:Sigh:
Here is a story that shows my point.
Hyperbole laced article.
....”The family’s fortune has apparently been used to fund safaris to Africa, targeting beloved animals like elephants and leopards hunting trips that can range in the tens of thousands of dollars”....
I have no problem with big game hunters....many of these Safaris’s are arranged ‘to clear the herds’. Governments even support them for that reason.
I have a family member who hunts Moose in areas they want the herds cleared.
Here in Western Pa. our herds of deer are limited so much they’re destroying gardens etc...not to mention accidents and people died fro so many crossing the streets. I sat in my sons yard and watched 7 walk right through. It’s awful here!
Do the elephants suffer unnecessarily or mercilessly? That matters.
I can imagine Teddy Roosevelt had one in the Oval Office. And he’d have been quick to tell a complainer to go pound sand.
Makes sense. No poaching no problem!
First thought: what about killing innocent babies for pay?
Then I went to Google to find an in utero pic, and wow, what results I did NOT get. Only Nirvana album hits. Very interesting...
Figure it out. Where there are antelope there are predators.
Living in “Gay State” has probably convinced you that a lot of red blooded manly things are now “bad form.”
That is what matters.
So when poaching is defined by an arbitrary geographical boundary?
The leftwing media will never miss a step.

In their own way the liberal media is hunting Trump and they hope to bag him as a trophy. Not unlike what they did to Herman Cain.
He wasn't poached, the property in question where the lion was hunted is "Antonette", which incidentally was legally owned by Peter Johnston /Rosslyn Safaris.
If you know anything about hunting with bait, which I suspect you don't, you would know that such bait is intended to bring in game, not a specific animal.
And its unlikely there was any sign saying "This Carcass is for Cecil only, all others keep away" ..........
Virtually every predator hunt in the U.S. will incorporate either bait or dogs or both and there is no guarantee that a specific animal will show up.........
I’m sorry. Didn’t know about that bow tie thingy. Boy, we need to educate the masses on not killing wild animals wearing bow ties.
I left a few choice comments over there. I didn’t want to give them the Hit, but I couldn’t help myself.
The Idiots Posting there shouldn’t be allowed to own a sharp stick.
Well one wearing a huge collar took the bait!
That sparks my curiosity, do you have a link to those reports? Thanks
As long as millions of babies are being butchered for profit, this is a total non story.
If the animal is already extinct would it matter where it is poached?
