Government air raids in a northwestern town in Syria and a subsequent crash by a Syrian warplane that slammed into a residential area there killed at least 27 people on Monday, activists said.

An activist group known as the Local Coordination Committees said the warplane crashed in a busy market, adding that it was not immediately clear whether it was shot down. The LCC said 27 people were killed and many others were wounded.

Achmed, how many times do I have to tell you. You drop the bombs. Not crash with them still attached.

No scorch marks from a fire, and no visible plane parts.

hmmm strange.

Muzzie probably got that bad old target fixation and flew right into what he was aiming at.

That is one committed pilot, that's for sure. He had one job, and apparently gave his all.

Good job!

Did he at least have the ceremonial Sake Toast before taking off?

Must have been a big plane.

That's what I was thinking too. According to Wikipedia, Syria's main ground attack airplanes are Mig-23s and Su-22s & Su-24s. Hard to believe one of them would be big enough to do all this.

Concur...I was thinking missile attack (perhaps a FROG-7, SS-21 or Scud variant), but not much of a crater. Still, hard to believe that a single SU-24 or Fitter with a couple of 1,000 pound bombs could create that much damage against reinforced concrete buildings—and with no scorch marks and no aircraft debris.
