"The speed got away from me because I was talking to my chief of staff..."

What a d-bag. I've been treated far worse than this guy when I was stopped doing 40 mph in a 30 mph zone... And I didn't get let go with a warning, despite having a perfectly clean driving record.

But I'm not a government official, nor am I black, so there you go.

“I wonder why police unions have fought so hard against these camera then.”

Good question. The article in the WSJ reports some interesting issues regarding who has access to the footage, and when.

Sandra Bland, a black woman, committed suicide 2 weeks ago in a Waller County, TX jail cell. She was sent to jail because she fought with a Texas State Trooper when he pulled her over for a minor traffic violation.

Garnet Coleman (D-Houston,) is the Chairman of House County Affairs Committee. Coleman was appointed Chair by Speaker Joe Strass, the despised R from San Antonio (supported by House Democrats.) Coleman held a hearing on July 30, and ripped the Director of the Texas Department of Public Safety, and implied that all Texas Peace Officers are racist.

The dashcam video was issued in response to Coleman’s conduct in the hearing.

Lying to the police is a crime. However this individual will not be prosecuted. To find out why, scroll up.

I have nothing against giving a good driver, with no other offenses, a warning. But this guy should have been given a ticket and lost his drivers license due to another high speed warning. Then he’d have something to whine about. The driver is a big fat entitled and rude racist and should have been set on his heels.

The cops and their unions would love it if they could record and release video only they find it convenient.

I wonder why.
