Trump Leads GOP Outsiders Surge in First Post-Debate Poll (Trump 23%)
Breitbart ^ | 9 Aug 2015 | Mike Flynn

Posted on 08/09/2015 11:10:51 AM PDT by Red Steel

The survey, conducted Friday and Saturday, finds Donald Trump holding his lead with 23 percent support among Republican primary voters. This is consistent with a Gravis Marketing poll taken after the debate, where 19 percent of Republicans said Trump won the debate.

The Gravis poll found that more Republicans, 22 percent, felt Ben Carson, retired neurosurgeon and political rookie, won the debate. In the NBC poll, Carson surged into third place in the nomination contest, earning 11 percent support.

Texas Senator Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) was the second choice in the NBC Poll, receiving support from 13 percent of Republican voters. Former Hewlett-Packard CEO Carly Fiorina was fourth, with 11 percent, following her widely recognized domination of the “undercard” debate earlier Thursday evening.

The exact breakdown and percentage of the first seven spots in the NBC poll are: Trump (23), Cruz (13), Carson (11), Fiorina (8), Rubio (8), Bush (7) and Walker (7).

In other words, the highest poll ranking of a candidate acceptable to the Republicans in D.C. is Florida Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL), in fifth place with just 8 percent. This is stunning considering the obvious attacks on Trump by Fox moderators, ...

In the post-debate analysis, Fox News roundly criticized Trump and heaped praise on Rubio and former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, a former Fox News anchor.

Obviously the NBC News poll is the first of many post-debate polls and the nomination contest is still in its very early days. Trump created a silly controversy for himself with an attack on Fox News moderator Megyn Kelly over the weekend, which isn’t factored into this poll’s results.

...

On Saturday, South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC), who is inexplicably also running for President, said Donald Trump was “inflicting permanent damage on the GOP.” He wants him booted

I disagree, respectfully. I thought that too. But after hearing her, they went after each candidate hitting on their weakness so that they could get used to it.

She hit Walker on Abortion, he surely will be asked by Hillary...Hit at Carson...Kasich...Trump.

No, I’m trying to be fair here. I don’t want to see a real feud between her and Trump. They can pretend, but in the end they were all trying to do what was best.

If she hadn’t hit them, esp Trump they would have been accused at doing what the left does with Obama

IN SHORT, Y’ALL HERE ON FREE REPUBLIC...KELLY IS ON GOOD SIDE AGAIN. SHE’S A CLASS ACT. SHE’S TOUGH..AMERICAN...COOL AND CONSERVATIVE. CHRIS AND BRETT TOO.

IMHO!!!!!!!!!!

Disagree respectfully. I think she’s cool, tough and classy. She could have taken Erickson up on his offer, but she didn’t. She’s taking big hits and standing tall.

I wish I had a girlfriend like her.

Interesting movement on the Twitter followers this month. The biggest gainers in followers (besides Trump and Rubio) is Ben Carson, Carly Fiorina and Ted Cruz, in that order.

Ben Carson has added over 75,000 followers since August 1 which is very impressive.

While Trump continues to dominate the Twitter follower growth (he added 30,000 followers in the past 24 hours alone), he is obviously providing some cover for these non-establishment candidates to gain some attention in this race.

Meanwhile, the follower growth of most of the GOPe candidates is flat.

She hit Walker on Abortion

Abortion is a substantive policy issue.

Whether Trump will run third party, his past tweets about Rosie O'Donnell and his company's experiences with bankruptcy are not substantive issues. They are personal issues.

The Fox moderators did not want voters to hear what Trump had to say about substantive policy issues. The first three questions to Trump were personal questions.

How would you have felt if their first question to Bush had had to do with drug problems in his family?

Gee I wonder where Franky Lutz is today?

He and Erickson need a few months at the Fat Farm. Maybe they're taking a break from politics.

Ironic that Graham is now concerned about damaging the Republican brand. He and McCain have damaged it a lot more than Trump...Of course they also took longer to do it.

The sane segment of the Republican Party wants Linda Graham booted, but the ignorant GOPe voters of SC keep re-electing this wasted opportunity.

re: VP choice. Don’t discount Kasich. Of course he’s not my favorite. But he’s a gritty, smart campaigner and OH matters. Meanwhile, Cruz could help clean out one of the worst cesspools in Earth...the US Senate.

Lampoon alert

FauxNews has just released this vido frame showing Trump leaving the GOP race...

It's the first known photo of Trump leaving a Republican race in North America.

Other news outlets aren't so sure, and think the footage may have been faked.

No doubt about it TRUMP... has put the cockroaches to flight, scattered the mice.., alarmed the rats.., made the republican TICKS hide..

WHY?.. because he’s ONE OF THEM.. and knows them, what they’re after, the crap they land on like flys, and blood they suck like the parasites they are..

At this stage in the election, TRUMP is a God-Send...
later (if popular) he will be a ringer..

ONLY.. Cruz is pureish Presidential.. Trust-worthy, ALL others are second string..

WHICH MEANS... sadly.. Cruz is very probably UNELECTABLE..
The Stupid Party is....... (well you know)...

If she hadn’t hit them, esp Trump they would have been accused at doing what the left does with Obama

So that fear is what Fox should base decisions upon? What Fox did was remove the pretense that they are any different from the other media outlets. They are not fair and balanced.

In previous years, Republican candidates could expect a pretty fair forum with Fox hosting, where the discussion would be on issues rather than gotcha questions. That's no longer the case.

But, be sure, the leftist MSM moderators will load up on the gotcha questions no matter what Fox does or doesn't do.

And, also note, the Dims refuse to attend any candidate forums hosted by Fox. So, Fox has just joined the others in the type forum they offer to Republicans.

It's total BS that the candidates needed gotcha questions to get ready for the MSM moderators. The candidates needed an objective forum to discuss issues that matter to the voters before the largest debate audience ever for a primary.

Fox blew it, big time. But maybe classy Megyn will pay Howard Stern another visit after her grand performance.

You have got to be kidding. You must not have watched this farce of a “debate,” which was dominated by the media hounds intent on impressing the Democrats with their idiotic choice of questions. Ignoring Ted Cruz for 25 questions, then asking him about God instead of his 21 hr. solo filibuster against Obamacare that ended with a government shutdown? That is journalistic fraud. These three “journalists” should have been fired after this pathetic display of arrogant bias.
