Anyhow, I think we are in a position where, if enough people are willing, we could recover the “heavenly attitude under siege” point of view.
We don’t like sieges, they are inconvenient, we feel freer if we imagine them gone or nonentities. But then we begin becoming the godless barbarians ourselves.
I agree that there is a danger of becoming our own worst enemies trying to deal with situations that are trying.
