Fox News chairman and CEO Roger Ailes revealed details Monday evening about his phone call with Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump.

“Donald Trump and I spoke today,” he said in a statement provided to TheBlaze.

“We discussed our concerns, and I again expressed my confidence in Megyn Kelly. She is a brilliant journalist and I support her 100 percent,” he added. “I assured him that we will continue to cover this campaign with fairness & balance. We had a blunt but cordial conversation and the air has been cleared.

Feeble attempt at damage control. Fox has suffered major damage to its brand and has lost significant credibility. The debate was a debacle.

What a waste of an article - there are no details there. We had a blunt but cordial discussion - ok, what did Trump say? What did you say? How was it blunt, how was it cordial? Did Trump mention Kelly? What did he say about her? What was the ultimate consensus of the discussion? Do journalists (on the Blaze no less) even do their jobs anymore?

What is Fox? As far as I’m concerned, it’s a little animal with a bushy tale running around in the woods.

Translation: I called Donald, told him Kelly is a hot property and to lay off. I promised to reign her in, if Trump will stop making her look biased.

How does a tale become bushy? Being told too many times? Or just a tale about bushes? :)

I’m just teasing.

According to several who posted on FR yesterday, Ailes called Trump to offer an apology for the way he was treated by Megyn Kelly.

I have yet to see any evidence for that, other than the words of Donald Trump.

Famous last words before the firing: "We have complete confidence in Xxxxxx, he/she is an excellent and we look forward to our continued association as we work together to achieve out goals."

“We discussed our concerns, and I again expressed my confidence in Megyn Kelly. She is a brilliant journalist and I support her 100 percent,” he added.

One of several aspects of the story never mentioned in the media is how Megyn behaved like a giddy schoolgirl for at least a couple of weeks before the debate, bragging and gloating about all the debate plans they were making and questions they were coming up with.

She's no brilliant journalist, just another opportunistic and ambitious pseudo-journalist looking for a chance to make a big event about her.

Much of the debate was just as Mark Levin described it: a National Enquirer event with National Inquirer questions..

I went to the link, but somehow I missed the ‘details’ of the conversation.

Ailes can pretend Kelly’s a real journalist, and this wasn’t a premeditated hit job, but the viewers know different.

So Megyn - FOX you.
