Newly released emails from Lois Lerner show the former IRS official at the heart of the Tea Party targeting scandal calling Republican critics “evil and dishonest,” and even “hateful.”
The emails -- part of a report released Aug. 6 by the Senate Finance Committee -- offer a revealing look at Lerner, who used to head the division that processes applications for tax-exempt status and was at the center of the scandal over the alleged targeting of conservative groups applying for tax-exempt status.
The bipartisan report found evidence that both the Obama administration’s political agenda, and the personal politics of IRS employees, including Lerner, impacted how the IRS did its job, according to Sen. Orrin Hatch, R-Utah, chairman of the Finance Committee.
A deeper look at the communications, first reported by Politico, shows Lerner taking aim at lawmakers for their tough questioning, particularly following a House Oversight and Government Reform Committee hearing in 2014.

This comment is the real key to Lois Lerner. She's no great thinker or political manipulator. She just a vain, silly old woman, more worried about how she looks than with anything of substance.
Apparently, the fact that she was testifying before congress and accused of some very serious crime was less important to her than appearance.

I find it amusing that the evil and dishonest woman who abused government power to persecute decent people, and then lied about it, is calling us "evil and dishonest". However, she got one thing right. I am "hateful" in the sense that I hate big government liberals. Those who persecute the innocent, force others to help kill babies, and use the nearly unlimited power of today's FedGov to harm decent people who oppose unconstitutional government actions fully deserve the hate they receive for opposing both freedom and God.
Frightening to think that she was in such a powerful position.

Possibly, but I think this is simply a spiteful comment made to detract from those she regards as maliciously tormenting her. After all, as a good liberal she would not ever do anything that was not enlightened and progressive! She reminds me of a mid-level Gestapo official, which is sort of funny when one realizes that she is really a kapo.
Yeah, they don’t point to illegal acts, just her motivation to do them. Truly a vile person.
I may agree on the first but strongly disagree on the second. Ms Learner has a long history of being a political manipulator. Prior to working in the IRS, she was at the Federal Election Commission, ending up as a senior manager before going to the IRS in 2001. There are several articles describing how she used her oversight powers to direct expensive actions against conservative groups like Christian Coalition while essentially down-playing similar activities by liberal groups.
Ms Learner strikes me as a psychological match to one of Kafka's faceless bureaucrats with minimal restraint and political confidence. She knows her cause is right, is reinforced by her compatriots, unrestrained by an Administration headed by a fellow believer and she is a skilled delayer and deceiver!
Why isn’t she in jail?
she was a useful idiot for those that are pulling the strings of government behind the scenes. what she was doing had a high risk of getting caught at it activity. I am sure that a smarter person was directing her on what to do. the way I would find out who it was would be to find out who she was having lunch with on a regular basis. that political operative is probably connected to then white house and is smart enough to not leave any e-mail trail leading back to them. Lois Lerner was a throw away political operative that they dangled the idea of being one of then real players behind the scenes to get her to do what she did. they are still dangling it to keep her mouth shut along with one of many pardons that are going to be issued by Obama when he leaves office.
