President Obama vigorously defended Wednesday his nuclear agreement with Iran as one "the world unanimously supports," reaching back to blame America's invasion of Iraq -- and the overthrow of Saddam Hussein -- for emboldening Iran, while labeling Republican opposition as "knee-jerk partisanship," and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's criticism as "wrong."
Speaking at American University in Washington, Obama described the congressional debate over the Iran deal as the "most consequential" since the Iraq invasion. The president called the agreement a "very good deal" that -- despite critics' claims to the contrary -- forbids Iran from building a nuclear weapon.
In anticipation of a barrage of advertising against the deal, Obama likened those arguments to the case for war in Iraq more than a decade ago.

obummer would never mention that Iraq was in good enough shape that it was considered a success by both dims and repups until he withdrew US support.
So the present problem in Iraq is really his doing.

as usual Obama is wrong - Iran did not get all juiced up over the Iraq war. They have been highly motivated ever since their success attacking our embassy and taking the staff hostage and then energized by Carter’s weak stance. They have been sticking their thumb in the US eye for many years.
Hard to tell if Obama is just his normal lying sack of crap self, or if he really is that stupid. Iran was sponsoring and paying for the killing of Americans long before Iraq.
After the mess obama has made of Libya, eqypt and Syria obama wants to bring up Iraq? Heck obama has taken out more dictators than bush. If Bush had not taken out saddam hussein than Obama would have likely done it himself. Definitely not in the way bush did but he would have pushed for ways to get him out so islamic fundamentalists could take over.

I thought this was a done deal? He has the votes to avoid a veto. Is he just looking to run up the score or doe he just want to be seen plugging something thats going to go his way so he he go around and tell people how right he was?

We have to show the Soviets that we want to help them and live in peace lest we play into the hands of the Soviet hardliners, there will be war and it will be our fault.
