Agreed, 100%. Times have changed, our “welfare state” has changed, and the flop house should be shut down.
We can’t afford a combination of welfare state for all and easy immigration.
Even welfare as we know it today is not really welfare because it lacks a dignity side. The older workfare, even when it was gratuitous makework, was better than the present idea of dole.

I believe it. I used to do a nation radio show way back in the early 90s about the coming immigration crisis, both illegal & legal. We had millions of listeners in 38 states & sometime we would go for the whole hour without one phone call....there was just no will to survive. It’s changed somewhat, but it’s not that different from then.
Was it publicized at all?

Immediately fire all the teachers and administrators who speak English only. Replace them with several dozen multilingual employees.

One of the Bucks County activists contacted the morning radio talk show guy who just returned from doing his show for a week in Isreal.
As for the Inkwire, there was an article about the mayor’s desire to stop the cooperation between the PD and ICE prior to the council hearing.
I’d say there was sufficient notice to get more than half a dozen people out there. But that’s Philadelphia for ya.

Not necessary for the younger kids-——immersion does the trick they way it did for immigrants that came years ago.
