Mexico condemns Donald Trump's 'racist' and 'absurd' immigration plan

‘These comments reflect prejudice, racism or plain ignorance,’ Mexico’s foreign ministry says of Trump’s plan to make Mexico pay for a border wall.

Mexico’s government on Wednesday slammed US presidential hopeful Donald Trump’s proposals to deport undocumented immigrants en masse and make Mexicans pay for a wall separating the two countries as absurd, racist and ignorant.

Launching his bid for the Republican presidential nomination in New York in June, Trump accused Mexico of sending “rapists and drug runners” across the United States’ southern border and pledged to build a wall to keep illegal immigrants out.

Over the weekend, Trump said he would increase fees on some Mexican visas and all border crossing cards as part of a broader plan to make Mexico pay for the barrier. He also said he would deport millions of undocumented migrants.

“We continue to stand by our position that these comments reflect prejudice, racism or plain ignorance,” Mexico’s foreign ministry said in a statement on Wednesday....

their extreme racism especially for their own Indians

That’s primarily who they have been exporting here. The safety valve of exporting those people here has saved (for now) Mexico from a revolution.

“So if we seize Mexico then are they still illegal aliens?”

They’d be a conquered people. They can be called anything we wish.

No need to invade right off. Just offer the northern states a choice: continue as you are and risk invasion, or choose annexation on terms similar to those of other US protectorates. Subject to accomplishment of certain milestones, the area may be converted to US territory at a later time with all benefits accorded to US territories.

Given that they were getting that money, essentially yes. We spend the same amount that we would have anyway, Mexico has less money and we have a wall.

I’d rather see them cut a check but this will do too.

Jeb, I’m talking to you. You call it an “act of love” but its more like the rape of the American people...

That's how I know that Jeb Bush is for gay marriage - he thinks getting bent over and buggered is an "act of love".

[Article] “We continue to stand by our position that these comments reflect prejudice, racism or plain ignorance,” Mexico’s foreign ministry said ...

How about if a bunch of people reflecting some serious "gnorance" (opposite of "ignorance") agreed with Trump. (Holding my hand up over here.)

Left-wing Mexican intellectuals have been running Mexico's foreign policy toward the US for 70 years without serious inspection or criticism, and only occasional academic notice outside the clubby internationalist faculty of progressive Fabian academe.

The Mexican intellectuals' ambitions go far beyond the relatively narrow charges made by Trump of Mariel-style social dumping, and go as far as hoping eventually to erase the results of the Mexican-American War and the Treaty of Guadelupe Hidalgo and the Mexican Cession that ceded much of the Southwest to the United States.

Manifest destiny ver 2.0

Just Baja. Compensation for the annoyance, disrespect, and cost. Beachfront property, fresh water from the sea. Maybe oil, too.

No, just the Baja, and that little bit either side of the Colorado estuary at the head of the gulf, and the little bit down to the first port town and river that would afford a defensible border.

Then all the Mexican folks in Baja get to move to Sonora and Durango, and Americans get to homestead the Baja.

Sound fair enough?

The Graun: "Mexico condemns Donald Trump's 'racist' and 'absurd' immigration plan"

The plan has gotta be a winner then, if both the Guardian and Mexico are against it.

Simple solution - give notice that we will treat Mexico’s citizens the way Mexico treats our citizens....

I mean, Mexico has so much credibility when it comes to the well being of the USA who can possibly ignore this?
