When they commit crimes, are they sent over to their countries of origin, or are they tried in the US courts?

If the US does not have jurisdiction over illegals, they should be sent packing as soon as the crime occurs, rather than try them in the US courts. Diplomats, whom the US does not have jurisdiction over, are sent packing should they involve themselves in a crime.

Trump has changed the way the entire country looks at immigration. I’m sure Cruz either has come along, or will shortly.

The idea that you should not be able to benefit by doing something illegal is a strong part of the law. And IMO a good reason why anchor babies should not be citizens.

OTOH if the government were to say anchor babies are citizens but the families that produce them must be permanently deported (they can either take the baby back to their country of origin or leave it here to be adopted) IMO that would be a reasonable coure of action.

Well, I see. Trump was a Democrat before but he has changed his mind. Bush was against common core before he was for it. Walker was for amnesty and now he’s against it. This was 2011 and it’s a gotcha. I still want Ted Cruz. He’s the best candidate for our country right now.

Nothing wrong with Ted. He is still a great patriot in my book. He is entitled to change on his tune on the issues, just like Trump.

Folks reading this shouldn't be down on Cruz without at least watching the brief video at the source in which Cruz clearly explains himself. He's certainly not in favor of birthright citizenship, but he's in favor of the Constitution and he doesn't think birthright citizenship can be overturned absent a constitutional amendment. Rather than spend present efforts on the difficult amendment process he'd rather close the border: if the illegals can't get in they can't produce anchor babies!

Whether birthright citizenship could be overturned by a simple act of Congress is presently best described as a controversial legal position. There are respected legal minds on both sides. Personally I think its possible, but Ted tactically doesn't want pursuit of that to detract from getting the wall done.

As long as he's agreed that the 14th amendment needs clarification to prevent its further abuse.

There are plenty who arrange travel plans to be here - legally - when they deliver their babies, Its called birth tourism and a wall won't stop it.

Not only that, but the feral goobermint does not even try to exercise jurisdiction over them. It allows them to break laws with impunity by ignoring crimes and “catch and release.”

All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the state wherein they reside.

I need someone to explain how we can deny citizenship to selected babies born in this country.
