When I talk to people I use the correct words and if someone does not like it then tough.
And while we’re at it, let’s stop using ‘hyphen-American’ to describe race and ethnicity. What the hell is wrong with ‘black’, ‘white’, ‘oriental’, or any other term that formerly had no ‘offensive’ connotation?
