...But Fans in Stands Have an Answer for That Ruling
A Mississippi school district had just been through some serious gavel pounding from a federal judge including a $7,500 fine and didnt want any more problems.
U.S. District Judge Carlton Reeves gave Rankin County School District the word on July 10, saying it promoted Christianity during school hours after it agreed to stop. So Reeves fined the district $7,500 and again ordered it to stop sponsoring prayers at graduations, assemblies, athletic competitions and other school events, WLBT-TV reported.
That means administrators, teachers and staff of the Rankin County School District may not participate in any religious activity, or solicit or encourage religious activities at school or while performing duties as a RCSD employee, Reeves added.
So when the district learned that Brandon High Schools marching band was planning to play the Christian hymn How Great Thou Art during halftime at Friday nights football season opener, it was decided that was too close to the judges ban and the performance was cancelled.
But that didnt stop dozens of parents and students and fans from performing How Great Thou Art on their own
"It bothers me because you look at the schools and all of the school shootings and all the bad things that are happening, and wonder why, parent Kimberly Moore told WLBT. Its because were allowing evil to step in.
I dont fault our school district because I know they are trying to do whats right as a community and for the school, Moore added. But
in another Im like we gotta take a stand on behalf of Christ.
One of my favorite hymns.
Got tar. Need feathers.

Get YOUR children out of the government indoctrination centers - NOW!!
What if the band pretends to play the song and the crowd simply sings it? Will the judge ban the band from pretending to play, also?
No need for tar. The birds are always known by their feathers.
Sure, and money is the bottom line, even though this federal action is still barred by the Constitution. But if you’re going to stand up to the feds, of course, you have to already be prepared for financial independence from the feds. But that should be embraced by every freedom-loving state.
First of all, isn’t INDEPENDENCE from tyranny and oppressive regimes the basis for the founding of America to begin with?
And secondly, if a state were smart, kept state government and taxes to a minimum, and let the market economy free of government interference run things, pretty soon that state would be financially more healthy than the bankrupt feds. If tiny, resource-poor Hong Kong sitting on a rock peninsula can do it, any state can do it.
That sounds great. I'm all for it.
What botheres me is that all these singing townspeople are just lifting their heads up from the feeding trough to complain how the slop tastes.
I can’t say what I think and wish for.
Woolverines, comes to mind. No compassion, no prisioners, no quarter.
They weren't complaining about tyranny when they were spending the money.
I understand the spirit of what they are doing, but they're hypocrites.

Heh!
Yes, well, the colonies also took from England until they said, “ENOUGH!”
It’s time.
This ping list is for the other articles of interest to homeschoolers about education and public school. This can occasionally be a fairly high volume list. Articles pinged to the Another Reason to Homeschool List will be given the keyword of ARTH. (If I remember. If I forget, please feel free to add it yourself)
The main Homeschool Ping List handles the homeschool-specific articles. I hold both the Homeschool Ping List and the Another Reason to Homeschool Ping list. Please freepmail me to let me know if you would like to be added to or removed from either list, or both.
Simple situation —
The Tenth deprives the Federal Government any say in this.
Any.
A locale, therefore, can play any tune it wants.
But —
If a Muslim song is played, ugh.
Be careful of what you want. What if the Muslim population of a high school district wants Muslim tunes played? You can’t be for majority rule one minute and not the next.
U.S. District Judge Carlton Reeves should be dancing at the end of a rope.
AMEN!! AMEN!!!

Yes, they need a serious dose of reality! People have gotten so used to injustice from the black robed MF’s that they don’t think they can do anything about it. They should be in front of this bastards’ home with torches and some ropes. And the question to him should be: “do you feel lucky today!”
