Thx for the ping.

Trump doesn't need a 3rd party because he owns the GOP.

As an aside, you are going to be a Freeper for the history books, V K Lee!

Keep up the good work.

Say you won't, then if they force your hand do it anyway...

When they call you on it say, well, now you know what it's like to be lied to and when promises are made then aren't kept...How did you like it?

What’s going on in Virginia is a good example. Walker stepped up to the plate to campaign for candidates in the VAGOP during the last statewide cycle (2013). These candidates were supported by most of the state party but were being undermined by the party establishment.

As a result of that he earned political capital with those candidates. One of those candidates is Mark Obenshain, who just became Walker’s VA state campaign director. (Ken Cuccinelli was another one of those candidates, and he has been coming out as pro-Walker as well.)

Obenshain comes from a political family with deep roots in Virginia. His father was a major player in the VAGOP and the son has followed in those footsteps. He is also one of the more generally supported and respected members of the state party. Consequently, Obenshain can pull a lot of strings.

Now, the rules of the state party are not set by its executive wing - the nominal party leader, executive director, and the rest of VAGOP HQ - they are set by a State Central Committee. This committee is largely owned right now by allies of Obenshain, or people favorable to him, or people who may want a favor from him in the future. Amongst them all he can influence a strong majority, enough to pass a rule.

Thus, if he wants to help Walker he has the option to use his pull to get the SCC to set rules favorable to Walker. A typical favorite tactic in the VAGOP is requiring some form of loyalty oath to the party. If doing so means Trump, who doesn’t want to take that oath, becomes ineligible to receive state delegates, then it becomes a distinct possibility that the oath will be passed into the rules for this cycle.

I was talking about Trump and this election. Not Walker.

I just wanted to know what your example of “inner workings” of “ugly politics” is which could be used in this election with Trump?

And they're going to tell tens of millions of Americans they're making Trump ineligible under some concocted setting of the rules, making him ineligible for whatever they come up with?

Nothing will rock America like that would. I'd like to see that Nep Nep.☺

You may want to review what happened in the Virginia GOP primary in 2012. There were still at least 5 candidates actively campaigning but the only ones on the ballot were Romney and Ron Paul.

State-level parties have more control over what happens in their states than you might think - a lot more.

The consideration is that if he agrees to not run a third party campaign and wins the state primary vote, the RNC agrees to no dirty tricks to undermine him and they agree to fully support his campaign for President

If I were Trump I wouldn't agree to anything until the GOP makes every primary a closed primary, open to registered Republicans only. Any Democrats that wanted to vote for Trump would have to renounce the Democrat party and all that it stands for first, and do so publicly. Wouldn't that send the media and their pollster-children into a frenzy!

Then I would make the GOP commit to a fair and transparent convention without the slightest attempt to configure delegate participation to meet some desired end. The first whiff of backroom shenanigans and the deal's off.

I wonder if his fallback is ‘write-in’ candidate now. I still bet he’ll rob Jeb if he ran a write-in campaign.

Funny how one can take his words and twist "I'm focused on running and winning as a Republican" as "I won't ever consider running 3rd Party again"...

?Saying he would "absolutely consider it (not running 3rd Party)" doesn't = "I won't even think about 3rd Party anymore".

Trump managed to reverse position on the prospect of an Independent run within the span of one day, first saying he would “absolutely” consider it and then saying that his “total focus is to run as a Republican and to win.”

The two are NOT mutually exclusive.

Trump’s (D-NY) in it for Hillary! He won’t commit to not running as a 3rd party because we’re watching a puppet show and that’s the script. The GOP will be forced to react to a non-Republican running in a GOP primary and Trump (D-NY) will be ‘insulted’ and have to run 3rd party.

This will elect a Clinton with less than 50% of the vote. There’s no tricks like the old tricks. See another real American who carved out the very same demographic Trump (D-NY) is carving out for the Clinton’s - Ross Perot - real American hero!

If they’re smart they’ll start calling Trump (D-NY) out for helping Hillary! get elected. Does Trump want their support in the general? It’s a standard trade off. Trump (D-NY) cannot win without them.

LOL. This is about electing a Clinton using the same trick Billy used to get elected, twice. Third time’s the charm, eh?

I'm laughing because other states are making the same provision....sign or else. Probably illegal since it is a Federal Election and rules have to be uniform.

That's how Florida wound up in Supreme Court.

Are stating the GOP and their little do nothing committees are going to tell tens of millions of Americans they’re making Trump ineligible under some concocted setting of the rules, making him ineligible to run for President?
