Curious move on Walker’s part. It isn’t just liberals who like state universities. Ask Tom Corbett how messing with Penn State (in different ways and over a different issue, of course) went for him.

Well since Walker doesn’t have a college degree why would he appreciate getting one?

Trump’s campaign slogan: Make America Great Again.

Walker’s campaign slogan: Protecting America From College Professors.

:-)

I didn't realize you had analyzed all of her fundng and determined its source.

Again, what does Wisconsin lose? Prestige, their cut of the pie, what? You state this as a given that the state of Wisconisin loses something of value if a fish scientist moves to another state. As for "discoveries," everything has a cost. Knowng some things about a perch may not be worth the cost. If all universities did was provide "discoveries," you might have a point, but that's a very simplistic way of looking at it.

ironically, research funding for hard sciences, absent any political agenda, is probably one of the less odious uses of tax money I can imagine. Sadly, the university system has been on the public money gravy tran for so long, it's facing a reckoning, either from Walker or from somene else.

I live in WI, pay taxes in WI and am the owner of a degree from the University of Wisconsin. So I might the biggest stakeholder posting in this thread.

And I fully cheer everything Walker is doing here. Madison is loaded with a couple thousand profs and assistants who make Bernie Sanders look conservative. These folks rarely teach a class and the ones they do are insane gobblegook claptrap. Meanwhile they have bloated salaries and big retirement packages.

Go Walker!

You're right. The university doesn't lose a thing. The funding. The research. The scientist. Nothing worthwhile there.

ironically, research funding for hard sciences, absent any political agenda, is probably one of the less odious uses of tax money I can imagine.

Well it looks like Wisconsin is trying to ensure you don't have to worry about any odious use of tax money at their universities.

Happy about the university. Not so happy for the fish. Amd the sports stadium is just more crony capitalism.

universities have priced themselves out of their own market. Enrollments are down and student loan deliquencies are skyrocketing. We’ve had a decade of college graduates failing to find work, especially in their major. Young people are starting to figure out it’s not worth it.

By the way, Perch tastes like crap. I’ve found that Tilapia, when cooked with butter and lemon, is really good. Mix is with good white rice and you’ve got a tasty meal.

Tilapia is virtually a waste product, but if you combine it with enormous amounts of butter and lemon, it is edible....tastes a lot like butter and lemon....Perch, on the other hand, tastes GREAT when properly prepared....not disguised.

Yeah, you had to take a picture lest you missed the last time a group of liberals voluntarily stifled themselves.
