If Trump was running as a Democrat, would you still support him? (Vanity)

I imagine Trump is kicking himself now for sliding into the crowded Republican race instead of the Democratic race. But who knew a few months ago that Hillary would implode leaving the Democratic race with NOBODY as a possible?

Sure Trump is enjoying a double digit percentage lead in the Repub polls, but imagine his ratings (75%? 85%?) if he ran basically unopposed as a Democrat?

I fully understand the question. Let me simplify. If Trump were running for president as a democrat, I WOULD vote for him if the republican nominee were Jeb, Christie, Rubio, or Kasich. The point I was trying to make is the aforementioned candidates championed by the GOPe are far less conservative to Trump. Do you understand the response now?

Thanks for reminding me about the anchor babies. Who in their right mind could imagine a Dem in Obama’s America running to revoke the ‘anchor baby madness’? Obama loves illegals and their anchor babies more than he loves US citizens. He has said, as in, come right out and said in so many words, that they have as much right to this country as citizens do.

And there are people who seem to imagine it is rational that a Dem candidate would get in Obama’s face on this issue. Also, that a Dem candidate would point out the devastation that Obama’s open borders/welcome mat/y’all come policy has wreaked on the American people.

This thread is beneath contempt.

Trump would have to suck 90% of his brains out to be a RAT.

<><><><><<

Imagine how awesome Trump would be if he had not lost 90% of his brain.

http://uspolitics.about.com/od/Election-2016/fl/Was-Donald-Trump-a-Democrat.htm

From the article linked above:

Trump was registered as a Democrat for more than eight years in the 2000s, according to New York City voter records made public during his campaign for president in 2016.

As he has surounded himself with Ted Cruz, Sessions, Laffer, and other prominent intelligent men, if I were a democrat with those shared opinions, yes, I would vote for the man. It’s not Rat/Rhino/Pachyderm - it is how they would govern.

:) Good morning to you, too.

He is a catalyst for us who are unhappy with the establishment Republican leadership. He is bringing up salient points that hit home with a lot of Americans, points that establishment Republicans won't bring up. Some think that is because they are afraid to, or they are complicit. Either way the Republicans are having their eyes opened by the normally silent majority who are now emboldened by Trump.

I agree with all of that and have said as much many times. What I don't agree with is the thought that conservatives should be supporting a known liberal for the Republican nomination simply because he is saying things they want to hear.

In spite of his faults, Ted Cruz remains the most conservative candidate in the race, and as such, he deserves conservative support.

Trump’s ‘Democrat’ platform: ‘The country is going to hell. Obama’s policies have taken us there. Elect me and I will so fundamentally reverse Obama’s policies that America will be great again.’

Let’s say Trump drops out.

That’s what you characters want.

Here’s what you’re left with.

Bush
Carson
Christie
Cruz
Fiorina
Gilmore
Graham
Huckabee
Jindal
Kasich
Pataki
Paul
Perry
Rubio
Santorum
Walker

One of these is who you think the party would nominate.

Carson
Cruz
Jindal
Walker

We haven’t nominated a Conservative since 1984, but you just know for a fact we would nominate one of the above folks.

Here’s a big heaping dose of reality.

Bush
Christie
Graham
Kasich
Pataki
Rubio

Which one? We don’t know. From past history, it will be one of these.

Then many of us sit out 2016. Many of the general populace do as well.

Welcome to the third term of a Democrat or the first term of a RINO.

You know, as a group of people, we are helpless.

32 years of hitting ourselves in the face with a shovel. Some folks want more.

Call me stupid, emotion, a Leftist troll, but I don’t want more.

I’m supporting Trump.

This thread is beneath contempt.

Call the Wahhmbulance and/or hit Report Abuse and ask it to be zotted.

What do you find contemptable? That fact that many FReepers would vote for a democrat?

Yes, I get your point that Trump is opposing Obama with his anti-illegal rhetoric. But so what? Have you seen the polls that show some hispanics and other dems are supporting him?

Obama ain't running in '16. As of now - NO ONE is running as a dem. The field is wide open. I asked FReepers to consider Trump as a dem and they have.

That's beneath contempt for you? Tough nookies.

I most certainly do stand with Ted Cruz as-well. I am a bit hesitant to see him leave the Senate, as that would basically leave only Mike Lee holding the line. (Although, if he were a VP to Trump, he would be the President of the Senate. Hmm...)

Good point. You are trying to inject rationality into an irrational discussion, however, which probably won’t work.

But for what it’s worth. Prior to Trump’s entry into the race, only Santorum was tough on the illegal invasion that has already destroyed the country’s sovereignty. A couple of candidates have since tepidly embraced the wall, but most prefer to focus elsewhere. Cruz’ initial response was to head to the border with Beck and distribute soccer balls and teddy bears.

Meanwhile, the reconquista of America continues apace.

You are a liar. Trump is lots more Republican than Democrat. So he would not run as a Democrat though you probably would. So go run for dog catcher under “D” on the election ballot

Go crawl back under your rock!!!!

****** The catch is that Trump enunciates Republican policies that many liberals/Democrats will go for such as border fence and enforcement and no more chump trade deals

The idea that a Dem’s fundamental platform would be rabidly anti-Obama is an alternative reality construct. I prefer the real world.

People who have to abandon rationality to make their point have no point to make.

‘The catch is that Trump enunciates Republican policies that many liberals/Democrats will go for such as border fence and enforcement and no more chump trade deals.’

That’s it in a nutshell, isn’t it? The biggest and most crucial issues for the American people are ANTI-Dem/Obama issues. And Trump is running on them.

And he’s winning by a double digit lead.

And you think my question is too far fetched and hypothetical?

Which one? We don’t know. From past history, it will be one of these.

Which past history? The only open primaries we have had since Reagan were in 2000, 2008, and 2012. In 2000 there was only one significant RINO, Bush. GWB made a horrible mistake in selecting Cheney as VP, not in terms of ideology, but in terms of physical vigor. In the latter two cycles, there were too many conservatives, particularly considering those that fell for the Fred Thompson Fan Dance. We are in that same situation now.

So it really is up to us as to around whom conservatives choose to coalesce. As of now, we should be ignoring completely any candidate with less than 5% Republican support. That would narrow things fast.

Hence, your running scared to a former Democrat with a long history of contrary "positions," while possibly appropriate later on, looks sort of OCD to me at this point. We have plenty of time to assess, test, and select from among a far more competent set of choices than we have had in recent election cycles, albeit none is perfect.

Trump's negatives are so strong he's very unlikely to win the general election. So in that respect, I think you are throwing your vote away.

You are a stinkin’ troll. Take a hike. If Trump gets elected you will be very happy with what he does. Despite your juvenile posturing, “Oh he might be a Democrat”. So the rest of us will got out and vote for him and elect him while you idle away.

You have not been paying attention to Trump the last few years. Or you would have never posed this “what if” Trump ran as Democart
