CNN Is Screwing Over Carly Fiorina: She's No. 7 in Polls, But CNN Pretends She's Not Even in Top 10
Pajamas Media ^ | 08/28/2015 | Michael van der Galien

Businesswoman turned politician Carly Fiorina is angry with CNN. The reason? The network is likely to leave her out of its prime time debate because she’s supposedly not polling in the top 10.

The only problem with that? She clearly is.

As Howie Kurtz explained on Fox News, CNN, however, is using older polls — from before the first Fox News debate — to assemble its “top 10″ of candidates. It’s clear that this is extremely bad for Fiorina, since she barely had name recognition before that debate. After it, however, she quickly surged in the polls and suddenly become a top contender.

You’d think that CNN would understand that debates actually matter and that a few weeks (let alone a few months) are an eternity in politics, but they’re having none of it. From the looks of it, the cable channel will not change its selection process. This means that Fiorina will once again have to participate in the kids’ table debate, missing out on the big audience that the top 10 debate is sure to draw since they’re up in prime time.

Of course, CNN could change their system in the blink of an eye, but they’ll likely refuse to do so because they don’t want to “give in” to the demands of one of the candidates — says Kurtz. Well, of course they wouldn’t. To the networks, this entire primary process is — of course — not about the actual candidates, but about themselves. It’s about their ratings, their influence, their power and their reputation. Republican voters can lose, as long as the networks win.

This flies in the face of the interests of the Republican National Committee. The RNC has to learn from this debacle and make sure it — and nobody else — organizes future debates. Networks can air the debates – - obviously — but it’s not up to them to come up with the rules and to decide who can and can’t participate.

Could also be a preemptive strike out of fear that Trump will pre-pick her as his VP and upset the entire applecart. Running as a team would be a massive game-changer and having never been done before would gather wide attention even from dems and indies. There would be affinity because both have solid business executive experience and she would articulate more policy whereas Trump is always going to be flying at the 50,000 ft. level. Not only would there be a male-female dynamic but it would put Hillary in a box and give Trump a huge platform to show his support for women.

Like Megyn, she’s a bleeder.

Her attack on Trump over nothing really exposed her.

She is a stalking horse for the Jebster.

Next.

Didn’t CNN establish the terms of its debate even before the first debate was held?

So now they’re supposed to change it so Carly gets included?

How sweet if Trump calls CNN out and demand she be included.

Seeing how Trump is the big draw. He's not threatened by her. ...standing up for GOP women.

Is this real? So far, there are four RCP polls since the last debate. But by the time the next CNN debate really happens, there will be several more. Is CNN really saying, “Here’s who is in,” or “Here is who will be in, based on current polling [which is likely to be heavily amended as new polls displace old ones]”?

It is bound to happen. With 17 candidates running, some inevitably will be left out.

Fiorina can still make the cut, why worry so early and hypothetically eliminate her right now?

Carly is wholly owned by the GOPe and undoubtedly would be assigned to try to bring down Trump.

Legally I believe there are limits to how much the RNC can dictate to the networks about their debates.

Perot was number one in the polls and CNN changed the way they counted. The didn’t count those who hadn’t voted in the previous election. That was half of Perot’s supporters.
He dropped to third overnight.

yea, old news, and every move she made was fully supported by her board of directors. Go show those graphs to the low-information (e.g. typical American) voter and see what they think it means. Then show the equivalent charts of US unemployment, National Debt, or federal budget under Obama and ask who they voted for in the last election.

Be sure to hold the charts right-side up, not that most people would notice any difference.

Yeah I was thinking the same. The GOP should demand her inclusion.

Actually Carly’s numbers have remained high after the debate. I don’t think CNN is intentionally excluding Carly. The rules for the CNN debate are to include national polls from July 16 through September 10th. The problem is that there have been very few national polls since the Fox News debate. The simple solution would be for the networks to commission a number of polls before September 10th. Maybe Carly’s organization could commission a couple of polls.

Carly who? Oh, yes the HP job killer that cost 10s of the thousands of US jobs, that has a history of GOPe and more. The loser. The Republican affirmative action candidate so that we can have a cat fight of two women fighting. Pathetic. She’s got baggage, she’s not likeable, and I’d NEVER vote for her. Everyone I know in IT doesn’t like her either.

The absolute last thing CNN wants to do is provide a forum for an articulate Republican woman.

It looks to me like the RNC is happily in bed with CNN on this one...the RNC morons are allowing CNN to choose who is in the debate.

The rules were made before the first debate. Carly gets burned by the rules. Changing the rules would give a woman preferential treatment. Personally, I have zero interest in Carly being in the race. Too bad if she didn’t make the cut. She hit the glass ceiling.

Maybe because she’s only very recently discovered she’s a “Republican?”
