Donald Trump is finally showing us more of his economic plan beyond the "Make America Great Again" slogan on his red hat.
America has now learned:
-- He wants to tax the rich more and the middle class less.
-- He wants to lower corporate taxes.
-- He wants to cut government spending and stop raising the debt ceiling.
"The hedge fund people make a lot of money and they pay very little tax," Trump said in an interview Wednesday with Bloomberg. "I want to lower taxes for the middle class."
In short, Trump is willing to raise taxes on himself and those like him.
Many hedge fund managers and real estate investors are able to list their earnings as "carried interest" because of an IRS tax rule. They are able to cast their earnings as investment gains instead of income, which allows them to be taxed at a lower rate.
"You've seen my statements. I do very well. I don't mind paying a little more in taxes. The middle class is getting clobbered in this country," he said.

Well, except for “tax the rich more” he seems to be on the right track.
You’d think he’d realize that money is fungible. “The Rich” can take their money and go elsewhere.
Besides “The Rich” are already paying most of the taxes.
Maybe you forgot but earlier this summer Cruz called those guys out.
Well...
I may be slow, but a 50 year old song isn’t the first thing I think of when I read your pseudonym.
I can think of a number of other Leftist things that I wouldn’t want to use as my pseudonym with z in front of it.

I don’t like this tax idea. It’s not Conservative.
Fortunately most of his other ideas are, and the public is hearing those heralded louder than they have since Reagan.
I think it’s bad economics, but it’s clear a majority wants to tax the rich. He is playing what he thinks is a winning strategy.
Shhh! They don’t want to talk about what his actual plans might be. (You know, the ones he’s working on with Steve Forbes and Art Laffer?....SHHHHH!!! Don’t talk about that!)
And watch Rubio be nominated...
Then I sit out 2016 and face you again in 2020, when you again will push the guy that can’t win, so we rinse and repeat.
After 30 years you still can’t grasp what is happening here.
What will it take 50, 60, 100 more years of this?
The rentiers at the top don’t mind paying more in taxes. They do not create value and have little to worry about when raising prices (taking more money from others paying their taxes with our money). They are merely tax collectors for the governments.
I think he is too and what’s in his book, which has a top rate of 15% is JUST fine with me.
It probably will for some of these guys.
It probably will for some of these guys.
Trump is dastardly. The real vote on Corker was for cloture and Cruz voted against it. TPP was a mistake. Maybe increasing H1B’s is no good, but it’s not the end of the world. Cruz would build the wall and actually do everything Trump says he wants to do.
Yes, but will he give me a pony??
Are you happy with open borders?
Do you really truly see rhyme and reason to perpetually denying the will of 2/3 of the electorate? Does this seem sensible to you, or are you getting suckered in with “all the SMART people” understand and are OK with this, and in fact dear sir/madam it is a mark of intelligence to just let this slide on by without comment or objection?!
Who does TRUMP consider as “rich” ?
That’s hardly a tax increase on any bracket!
I might actually be willing to go to work again, if I’m not punished for doing well.
ALL tax brackets get a huge cut, if you read his actual plan and not the purposely-deceptive headline.
Do you remember that conservatives nominated Bush, Dole, Bush, McCain, and Romney because they can win? Two of them did, and screwed us over. The other three would have if they had won. Our chances of ever having a conservative lead this country get slimmer with every non-conservative we nominate and/or put in office.
the boon comes AFTER taxes are lowered, not before.....or should I say, the taxes must be lowered BEFORE...or there is no boon.
No. A unicorn that farts rainbows.
