When Trump is talking ‘rich’ he MEANS rich. When dems say tax the rich they mean the middle class.

As I recall, when Dems proposed their "tax the rich" schemes, most on this forum howled in opposition to the very idea. That is because most conservatives with any economic literacy know that the ones that get hit the hardest by the "tax the rich" schemes are small businesses that operate a sole proprietorship, partnership or sub-chapter "S" corporation - the same businesses that provide most of the new jobs and new growth in the economy. But since it is the Donald that is saying this, now it is a great proposal, and we conservatives that still oppose the idea now suffer from TDS - even though we have always opposed it, no matter who was proposing the idea.

I am starting to think that TDS is a better description for some of those that support Trump, not the ones who oppose him.

Unfortunately, that tax scheme, with those rates, wouldn't raise enough revenue to pay for national defense and Social Security. A better, simpler alternative would be a flat income or consumption tax rate (say, 15%) with a fixed zero-bracket amount (say, $7500 per household member). Although the tax rate is proportional, the incidence of such a tax would be “progressive” because of the zero-bracket provision.

There should be no tax on capital gains or dividends. Period. DT is a populist. Not a conservative. This is scary.

Yep, many Freepers are now populists and not conservatives too. And it is scary.

I work for a guy who makes several million dollars a year. He has told me before that he actually doesn’t have a problem paying more in taxes. His issue is that it is so piss poorly used by the idiots in our government.

I think he is too and what’s in his book, which has a top rate of 15% is JUST fine with me.

Overall it's a massive tax cut.

The lowest rate to 1% from 15%, and the highest rate from 39.6% for people making $1 million/yr or more to 15%. So making people pay more like Obama supporters ie Warren Buffet pay more for stock profits, and who are in the big time upper stratosphere, that's ok with me too.

The guy who voted for TPP?

False - Cruz never voted for TPP, he voted for TPA, two different pieces of legislation.

Exactly. The more money government taxes from the rich the more they expand their tentacle arms.

More like folks like you want to believe you have a gotcha when you’ve pulled something screamingly out of context.

Trump is pushing for a progressive tax STRUCTURE... but with ABSOLUTE levels maxing out at 15%. The rich will incur a larger margin than the poor IN THAT STRUCTURE. Nothing about paying at a larger margin than today.

This is basic Laffer curve economics.

Please. There are better ways to concern-troll against Trump, if you feel that is your calling, than this kind of transparent stunt.

LOL!

Very true.

I’m sure a number of these slogans are repeated (by some of our FR brethren) in a mantra-like chant every day.

BTW, you accidentally left one out. Here it is:

“The GOPe is evil and must be destoyed. Ony the Donald can do that”.

Sit down and shut up. No one called you. We don’t need any ideologies. Trump doesn’t need ideology. Trump will get things done. Trump will do it smarter because he’s run a successful business. Go away troll. I’m in the middle of a trumpgasm.

Raise taxes on small business and lower taxes on corporations. Ironically, not even Jeb could come up with anything more Chamber of Commerce. The deck is stacked against small business. Now Trump wants to worsen the tax disadvantage. Trump is a mercantilist.

Were any of them proposing to do what Trump is?

No, and yet they got the nomination.

Bush, McCain, and Romney were for straight up amnesty by any name. Wall, LOL, no wall. They didn’t need no stinkin’ wall.

Across the board, what Trump is pushing is Conservatism.

This is the first time the public has heard it loudly since Reagan.

This bothers you?

Trump is not El Perfecto yet, but he more and more is getting to be El Prettygoodo.

I think the key here is that his advisors, which are heavily to the conservative today, are beginning to convince him that conservative policy is the way to American greatness. Progressive policies sap America, in spite of sounding good to certain small interest groups. Trump knows business and he knows what fails and what doesn’t.
